The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:

00. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

A. Musical: Must be classically trained and be familiar with a variety of settings for the Roman Catholic
Mass. Must be open to adaptation and be versed in a variety of musical style.
B. Professional: A positive selfdirected and motivated individual with the knowledge and vocal skill
necessary to support the Catholic Music Program. This person must demonstrate a familiarity with the
commitment to the Catholic faith and practice as articulated by the documents of the Second Vatican
Council and subsequent statements of the American National Conference of Catholic Bishops especially
the Directives on Music in the Liturgy. Applicants will be evaluated based on a submitted resume and
references as well as the results of an interview to be conducted by the Wing Chaplain and/or his
designates. Applicant is subject to a positive background investigation from the Catholic endorsers
(Archdiocese of Military Services USA and Diocese of St. Petersburg).
C. Education and Experience: The Cantor must have the ability to sight read music and be well versed in a
variety of musical styles.
D. A minimum of three years of experience as a Cantor within a military chapel environment is required.
E. Interpersonal: Must possess the ability to constructively work with chapel and parish staff parishioners
and other musicians.
F. Be proficient on the guitar and piano and must be able to sightread hymns contemporary and praise
music both harmonics and rhythms and be wellversed in a variety of musical styles. Christian hymns
praise music contemporary songs and liturgical songs will be selected for worship.
G. Possess a high level of musical skill and the ability to work with the cantor musicians and singers in
the respective worship services. Possess the ability to lead and/or accompany worship by singing and
playing the guitar or piano at the same time.
H. Possess the ability to maintain professional standards of conduct and public decorum.
I. Possess an associate degree in music or equivalent musical education level.
J. Have a breadth and depth of knowledge necessary to accomplish the weekly support of the Catholic.
K. Music Program. This person must demonstrate a familiarity with the Catholic faith as articulated by the
documents of the Second Vatican Council and subsequent statements of the American National
Conference of Catholic Bishops especially the Directives on Music in the Liturgy.
1.0 DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
1.1 Scope of Work
1.1.1 Performance Requirements: Provide music and/or musical accompaniment at Catholic Services
(Weekend Masses and 1 Rehearsal every week 7 Holy Day worship services 2 Christmas Masses 2 Tridium worship services 3 Holy Week services and 5 memorial/funeral units). Services are to be rendered at the MacDill AFB Chapel unless otherwise specified by the Catholic Chaplain.
1.2 Specific Tasks
1.2.1 Conform to the directives of the American National Conference of Catholic Bishops as given in
Directives on Music in the Liturgy.
1.2.2 Provide music and/or musical accompaniment at the Weekend Masses. Services are to be rendered at the MacDill AFB Chapel unless otherwise specified by the Catholic Chaplain.
1.2.3 Be able to work special rehearsals and/or services as authorized by the Catholic Chaplain or his designate; Catholic services consist of: Weekend Masses 52 Rehearsals 7 Holy Day worship services 2 Christmas Masses
2 Tridium worship service 3 Holy Week services and 5 memorial/funeral services.
1.2.4 Submit purchase requests for music and/or equipment needed for the parish. In selecting each weeks songs the musician will endeavor to blend musical styles as appropriate.
1.2.5 Assist in the development of a Catholic Liturgical Music Program encompassing the needs of the presider musicians cantors choirs and congregation as well as the Liturgy Commission.
1.2.6 Ensure arrival at least 30 minutes prior to each service and have a completed sound check at least 15
minutes prior to service start time.
1.2.7 Possess the ability to organize the chapel volunteer group of singers and/or musicians to provide worship music for the Catholic Parish.
1.2.8 Assist the Catholic Chaplain or his designate in drawing a written plan of music for the Liturgical Year
including Holy Days and special celebrations.
1.2.9 Possess an ability to maintain healthy functional interpersonal relationships with coworkers parishioners and customers in a unique multicultural multifaith environment.
2.0 SERVICE SUMMARY
2.1 Provide music and/or musical accompaniment at Catholic Services (Weekend Masses 52 Rehearsals 7 Holy Day worship services 2 Christmas Masses 2 Tridium worship services 3 Holy Week services and 2
memorial/funeral units). Services are to be rendered at the MacDill AFB Chapel unless otherwise specified
by the Catholic Chaplain.
