Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for neurosurgical procedures ensuring they understand the process and addressing any concerns.
  
• Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper preoperative assessments are conducted.
  
• Monitor patients postoperatively paying close attention to neurological status vital signs and signs of complications
  
• Implement and interpret neurologic assessments such as Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scoring.
  
• Manage postoperative pain using various pain management techniques and medications.
  
• Conduct frequent neurological assessments to detect changes in patients conditions.
  
• Monitor for seizures and implement appropriate interventions as needed.
  
• Provide specialized wound care for neurosurgical patients ensuring proper healing and infection prevention.
  
• Monitor for signs of infection and collaborate with the surgical team as needed.
  
• Educate patients and their families about the neurological condition surgical procedures and postoperative care.
  
• Administer medications including neuroprotective drugs and medications specific to neurological conditions.
  
  

Requirements

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor s Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited academic institution. (preferred)
  

Experience

• Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
  

Licenses and Certifications

• RN Registered Nurse
  
• BLS Basic Life Support
