Job Title: Release Engineer
Location:

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with development and operations teams to understand software components and their dependencies for effective release planning.
Manage and execute the endtoend release process ensuring timely and errorfree deployments to UAT and Production environments.
Implement and enhance automation scripts for build deployment and release processes optimizing efficiency.
Conduct thorough testing and validation of releases troubleshooting issues and ensuring software quality.
Maintain and improve version control systems ensuring accurate tracking of code changes throughout the release cycle.
Develop and maintain release documentation including release notes runbooks and procedures.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in the release process.
Monitor production environments during and after releases promptly addressing any issues or discrepancies.
Contribute to the adoption of best practices for configuration management deployment and infrastructure as code.
Produce high quality support documentation and diagrams on collaborative platforms e.g. Wiki Confluence
Investigate and prioritise requests for support raised by business users.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
24 years of handson experience as a Release Engineer or in a similar role.
A logical approach and ability to think outside the box when problem solving and the flexibility to work in a fastchanging 24/7 operational support environment.
Proficient in scripting languages (e.g. Shell Python) and experience with automation tools.
Solid understanding of version control systems and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Knowledge of build and deployment tools such as Jenkins Octopus.
Expertise in SQL including database schema design data manipulation and optimization.
Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
Good knowledge of Build and Release practices Configuration or Change Management principles and Continuous Build Integration and best practice.
Handson experience with software configuration management tools or change control software.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a teamoriented environment.
Experience in the financial sector ideally involving payment processing.
Experience of working in a highpressure environment where system functionality has a direct effect on the bottom line.
Understanding of transaction processing systems preferably with some exposure to electronic point of sale and ATMs.
Knowledge of ITIL (the IT Infrastructure Library) for Service Management.
