R and D Engineer IV

As part of the R and amp;D Managers team for the Rigid Plastics Packaging division the R and amp;D Engineer will spearhead the development design and qualification of new thermoplastic materials and processes for enduse markets. This pivotal role involves a concentrated effort on identifying sustainable packaging solutions propelling market growth and optimizing productivity capacity and efficiency across manufacturing plants.

The ideal candidate will possess fulltime industrial experience in R and amp;D with a specialized focus on Polymer Science Coatings Extrusion and Thermoforming. Additionally familiarity with plastic materials particularly those utilized in food and beverage packaging is highly desirable. Demonstrated proficiency in Solidworks is advantageous. Furthermore knowledge of forming processes for packaging and industrial applications including rigid sheet thermoforming injection molding and extrusion will be beneficial in fulfilling the responsibilities of this role.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a subject matter expert in plastic materials and additives.
• Address internal and external customer needs and packaging opportunities in a manufacturing setting.
• Provide timely and costeffective creative solutions to new and existing packaging problems involving materials and processes.
• Originate new ideas to support R and amp;D product innovation and technology strategy.
• Participate in regular portfolio review meetings to ensure proper balance and consensus on priorities.
• Manage the technical integration of projects through collaboration with suppliers internal crossfunctional teams and customers to meet performance criteria.
• Establish an environment that motivates and engages others in the R and amp;D organization to achieve desired results.
• Foster a positive safe work environment through open communication and teamwork.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures to protect all employees.

Requirements:

1. Bachelors degree in Polymer Science Plastics Engineering or Chemistry; Masters degree preferred.
2. 5 years of related experience with a strong technical background in plastics resins coatings and laminates including extensive knowledge in material analysis and testing.
3. Experience in processing extrusion thermoforming and injection molding; experience in consumerbased food packaging is advantageous.
4. Resultsdriven with a high level of personal initiative energy and ownership for success.
5. An inquisitive mind actively staying aware of new and developing technologies inside and outside the industry.
6. Selfstarter with a positive cando attitude and able to work independently.
7. Experience leading projects across different functions in the organization (e.g. commercial manufacturing supply management).
