QC Supervisor

Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

The job of the Shift Supervisor can be described simply as player/coach and is executed on the shop floor.

• Direction of the activities and team members of a shift team.
• Accountable for the work output of a shift team.
• Accountable to provide for the needs of a shift team.
• Accountable to address team member concerns and escalate as required.
• Reports to Section Head or higher.

The general duties and responsibilities of the Shift Supervisor include but are not limited to the following:

• Setting shift work schedules to align with department priorities.
• Ensure work on an individual or group basis as required.
• Oversee cGMP compliance of the shift.
• Review the work of shift.
• Conduct troubleshooting or investigation activities in a shift.
• Be a Subject Matter Expert on instruments or equipment in the shift and department setting.
• Ensuring that tools are provided and concerns are escalated as appropriate.
• Ensure that the shift teams are working in a safe way and following all safety rules and procedures.
• Ensure compliance to all data integrity and cGMP practices procedures and expectations.
• Specific duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree (BS or BA) physical sciences preferred.

Experience:

• Must have a background in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Understanding of lab equipment and QC testing techniques required.
• No less than eight (8) years of relevant QC pharmaceutical lab experience.
• No less than 3 years of relevant experience directing work in a group setting.
• Proficiently speak English as a first or second language
• Proficiently communicate and understand (read and write) scientific work in English.
• Have excellent organization learning and teaching skills required to work in teams.
• Ability to understand and analyze complex data sets.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and other scientific based software

Skills/ Competencies

• UV HPLC DSC and other tests.
• Know how to use dissolution instruments.
• LIMS and empower.

Physical Requirements

• Work standing or walking unassisted for 75% or greater of an 8hour period.
• Unassisted lifting upto 10 kg may be required.
• Able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times when required.
• Sitting at a desk and/or working at a computer or other screen 75% or greater of an 8hour period.
