Their state of the art facilities located outside Port Moresby enables This Company to design fabricate erect and manage the most complex remote site facilities to the highest international standards in the tightest of client timelines. This Company provides total engineering solutions with 100% in house capability from design to manufacturing installation and commissioning of camps. Their facility management team can provide complete life support serves to our clients regardless duration size of operation or location.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a purchasing strategy with a focus on schedule quality and cost.
  • Review and process purchase orders.
  • Manage other members of the purchasing team.
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  • Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors.
  • Select prospective vendors and negotiate contracts.
  • Evaluate vendors based on quality timeliness and price.
  • Schedule deliveries and ensure timely fulfillment of orders.
  • Research and evaluate vendors to compare pricing and services.
  • Coordinate with fellow managers (Admin Project Managers Site Managers) to monitor inventory and determine supply needs.
  • Ensure the quality of procured items and address problems when they arise.
  • Keep up with trends in procurement.
  • Travel to vendor locations.
  • Stay current with purchasing technology trends and oversee purchase and implementation as necessary.
  • Manage inventory as well as warehouse transportation and other logistics processes.
  • Develop new strategies to streamline processes and reduce costs.
  • Ensure that schedule quality quantity customer satisfaction and financial commitments are met.
  • Perform metrics reporting and data analysis tasks to identify issues and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Perform weekly reports for internal and external key stakeholders.
  • Partner and communicate with manufacturers suppliers and customers.
  • Manage and develop logistics staff.
  • Create and manage budgets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree (preferred but not a necessity).
  • Degree in supply chain management logistics or business administration preferred (preferred but not a necessity).
  • 10 years experience as a purchasing manager or agent supporting construction projects in developing countries including support of remote project site locations.
  • Experience in supporting purchasing for construction projects (a construction technical background would be a positive).
  • Experience using procurement software and databases.
  • Supervisory experience.
