Job Overview:

Syra Health is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse PractitionerBoard Certified (PMHNPBC) will offer psychiatric evaluations and medication management services such as assessing diagnosing prescribing and providing care for people facing mental health and substance use disorders. The PMHNP will work with primary care physicians and other health care professionals to coordinate care.

The PMHNP makes diagnosis and collaborate with the patient and the health care team to develop a plan of care as well as evaluates the plan for effectiveness through followup. PMHNP may determine whether hospitalization or outpatient care is needed or recommend individual family or group therapy. PMHNP will provide crisis management and psychotherapy. Additionally the PMHNP will be a resource in providing education to patients families caregivers and communities.

The PMHNP will treat a variety of patients including adolescents and adults experiencing a mental health crisis or children who have been exposed to traumatic events. They may also treat older adults struggling with Alzheimers or dementia soldiers returning from combat who may struggle with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) people confronting acute psychiatric disorders or suicide; or those struggling with opioid alcohol or other substance abuse.

Primary duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates patients referred for assessment due to symptoms of behavioral health disorder(s).
  • Provides appropriate medication management services for any patient requiring psychiatric intervention.
  • Refers patients for psychotherapy counseling or in/outpatient care as necessary.
  • Completes suicide risk assessment as appropriate.
  • Provides emergency psychiatric care as required.
  • Consults with psychiatrist as appropriate and receives clinical supervision whenever required by licensing board in the state where the facility is located.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients families and loved ones of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
  • Interacts effectively and builds respectful relationships with physicians other health care professionals and other healthrelated agencies.
  • Participate in staff meetings case conferences and peer supervision sessions to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Know how to use the following software: scheduling EHR medical diagnosis medical billing eprescribing and telehealth.
  • Maintain licensures and certification(s) to as required by licensing agencies and associations in the state of practice.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Masters or Doctoral degree from an accredited nursing program with a focus on psychiatric nursing.
  • An unrestricted license to practice as a Psychiatric Mental HealthAdvanced Practice Registered Nurse (PMHAPRN) in the state in which the facility is located.
  • ANCC or ANA certification as an PMHAPRN.
  • Should have DEA and NPI licenses.
  • Two (2) years of direct clinical care experience as a psychiatric provider.
  • Should have individual professional malpractice liability insurance policy.
