Plumbing Design Engineer

Leading multi-disciplinary team is looking for a Senior Plumbing Design Engineer for their Detroit team!

Responsibilities:

• Lead plumbing design on a variety of projects (Healthcare/Labs, Industrial, Education, Institutional, and Commercial)
  
• Develop the following:
  

o Project scope

o Schedule

o Plumbing and fire protection budget/design approach

o Feasibility studies/project cost estimate

o Value engineering

o Code Review

o Project specifications

• Perform project management duties
  
• Coordinate project with architects, clients, and contractors
  
• Review show drawings
  
• Prepare construction drawings of plumbing and fire protection systems from schematic through the construction document phases
  
• Perform/direct complex design of piping and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems for large scale buildings
  
• Specify plumbing/fire protection equipment
  
• Perform QAQC on projects
  
• Mentor/train junior staff
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  
• 5+ years of Plumbing Design experience in Consulting Engineering
  
• CBD or CBDT required
  
• EI or PE License preferred
  
• Proficient in local/national building codes and design practices
  
• Extensive knowledge of the following:
  

o Plumbing Codes and Uniform Plumbing Codes

o NFPA 54; National Fuel Gas Code

o Relevant building codes, sustainability, green building rating systems, industry standards

o LEED compliance documentation

o Plumbing design/calculation resources

o Revit and AutoCAD

• Understanding of and continued education of relevant trends/standard methodologies
