Physical Therapist

Duties: As part of the rehabilitation team diagnoses and treats individuals of all ages who have medical problems or other healthrelated conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Examines each individual and develops a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move reduce pain restore function and prevent disability. Coordinates supervises and delegates to supportive staff including Physical Therapist Assistant and Rehab aide. Communicates the organization s vision within rehab team and interactions with patients; aligns work efforts to support its fulfillment. Performs other duties as assigned at the direction of the Rehabilitation Manager or Director.

PRACTICE STANDARDS/ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Incorporates appropriate assessment and intervention and/or technical skills in all interactions and/or delivery of patient care.
  • Safety and protection; assessment; intervention/technical skills; evaluation; and equipment use/management.
  • Communicates with patients team members and management in an accurate timely manner.
  • Talks with listens to patients/team members; Reports pertinent concise information; complete timely charting; computer charting/ordering; protects confidentiality of patient/colleagues.
  • Applies critical thinking skills and considers alternatives.
  • Organizes multitask workload; prioritizes tasks/work; seeks assistance; collects/integrates data from multiple sources; organizes job tasks or delivers care for multiple tasks or patients per scope of position. Maintains awareness and contributes to department specific quality initiatives
  • Develops and maintains human care relationships.
  • Integrates the influence of the human experience of health illness &/or healing during interactions with patients and staff; adapts care or communication for diverse populations and environments; advocates for needs of clients; provides communication and/or care in ethical and legal manner; refers concerns/issues to appropriate resources.
  • Manages self and resources effectively.
  • Acknowledges limits of experience and capability; identifies learning needs and seeks resources; utilizes equipment and supplies appropriately; maintains clean orderly environment of work; ensures traffic control in sensitive areas ; seeks out and accepts feedback; requests assistance appropriately
  • Applies leadership skills.
  • Verbalizes scope of practice/position for self and others; interacts with others in professional manner; manages conflict; delegates and assigns care/tasks when appropriate; coordinates care/tasks with multidisciplinary team when appropriate.
  • Incorporates teaching in delivery of care/service with a focus on heath promotion and customer service.
  • Provides information to patient/customer; assesses for barriers to learning in communication when appropriate; uses colleagues as a learning resource; supports the preceptor program and/or training of colleagues as appropriate and as assigned by supervisor.
  • Applies knowledge integration skills for the patient populations/customers served within unit/area of hire.
  • Provides age appropriate care/service; applies knowledge of expected norms during implementation of care/service (i.e. industry standards lab values/norms assessment etc); applies new data/knowledge to improve care/service (ie. incorporates newly learned information to job tasks); Integrates technical psychological social intellectual and physical skills.
  • Demonstrates the department specific skills requisite for assigned service area.

    • BLS Certification Required
    • Doctor of Physical Therapy or MS in Physical Therapy issued by State of New Hampshire or qualified to take New Hampshire written licensing examination for physical therapists as evidence by letter or statement signed by authorized New Hampshire physical therapy licensing official Required
