Mobile Health Team Inc. a staffing agency has openings for an Operating Room Surgical Technician. We are looking for someone with a passion for people.

Location: Corvallis OR 97330

Assignment Start Date: 4/15/2024

13 weeks Days 10hour shift 40 hours weekly with 32 hours guaranteed

Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical Technicians work under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and noninvasive surgical procedures ensuring that the operating room environment is safe that equipment functions properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical Technologists are experts in the theory and application of the principles of asepsis and sterile technique to combine the knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures to facilitate a physicians performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Will participate and maintain a culture in a way consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards as stated in the Clinics Policy and Procedures. To this end employees will be expected to read have familiarity and embrace the principles contained within.
  • Assesses patient status during preop interview and continuingly.
  • Provides safe therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis promptly and by setting appropriate priorities. Documents interventions and patients responses.
  • Ensures the provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner.
  • Utilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.
  • Communicates appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information including surgeons anesthesia management and other staff.
  • Safely carry out physicians orders correctly and promptly documenting all activities.
  • Assist Anesthesia staff as needed.
  • Displays an understanding of each patients cognitive physical emotional and chronological maturity in assessments treatment and care.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new employees.
  • Maintains competencies to function in an RN role within a specific area.
  • Protect sedated and anesthetized patients by identifying safety hazards such as electrical equipment and pressure points and by minimizing exposure to maintain privacy and body temperature.
  • Expertise in safety principles asepsis sterile technique and universal precautions.
  • Assesses anticipates and implements appropriate care throughout the surgical process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

Experience:

  • A minimum of one or more years of experience in a Main OR is required;
  • Multispecialty experience: Orthopedics GYN Urology General Surgery ENT and Ophthalmology; preferred

Education:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

Licenses Certifications and/or Registration:

  • Current BLS/BCLS certification is required.
  • ACLS PALS NRP and ATT certifications are preferred

Shift: MF (4 10hour shifts day TBD by staffing manager) Typical assignment is a 40hour work week. Guaranteed hours do not apply in the case if there is a low census the clinic is closed for any reason or the candidate voluntarily calls out only hours worked apply.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
  • Necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
  • Ability to don OR attire and personal protective equipment (PPE); gather check and open supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure; set up the sterile back table and Mayo stand with appropriate supplies.
  • Maintain skills in equipment usage and troubleshooting
  • Prepares and anticipates additional instrumentation equipment and supplies for usage during the procedure.
  • Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
  • Knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care
  • Ability to work well with providers clinical staff and patients
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy fastpaced environment while maintaining quality of work
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures including but not limited to standards for confidentiality Infection Control Safety (OSHA) Attendance Personal Electronic Equipment Punctuality and Personal Appearance.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities including identification of opportunities for cost reductions and efficiencies.
