Overview:


As an OPD Associate you play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Outpatient Department (OPD) by providing administrative and patient care support. Your dedication to delivering exceptional customer service and your ability to handle various administrative tasks are vital to the efficient functioning of the OPD.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Greet and assist patients and visitors professionally and courteously.
  • Register new patients and update existing patient information accurately.
  • Coordinate patient appointments and ensure efficient patient flow within the OPD.
  • Answer phone calls take messages and redirect calls as appropriate.
  • Handle patient inquiries and provide information about services policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
  • Assist healthcare providers with administrative tasks such as scheduling tests and procedures.
  • Manage inventory and supplies ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Process billing and insurance claims accurately documenting patient charges and payments.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the OPD waiting area and workstations.
  • Participate in training and development activities to continually enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Adhere to all healthcare regulations policies and protocols.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement

Required Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare or customer service setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administrative procedures.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other healthcare software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients families and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in performing administrative tasks.
  • Capability to remain calm and professional in highpressure situations.
  • Understanding of insurance processes and medical billing procedures.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and patient confidentiality.
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of infection control and patient safety practices.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing work environments and schedules.
  • Basic CPR and first aid certification may be required.
