NV - Lab Tech - Nights NV General Supervisor required

Assignment Start Date: 3/11/2024

13 weeks Days 12hour shift 36 hours guaranteed weekly

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager the Laboratory Technologist functions independently within the Policy and Procedures of Boulder City Hospital performing medical laboratory tests including those requiring independent judgment as precisely and efficiently as possible through the resources and providing data for diagnosis treatment and prevention of disease and is involved in problemsolving teaching training and supervisory assistance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Position requires frequent standing walking sitting and bending at the waist. Must have full dexterity of fingers and hands; vision must be 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 and must possess good communication skills on the telephone and in person.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs all assigned routine and complex laboratory analyses correctly as stated in the procedure manual and with absolute integrity; responsible for the recognition and correction of errors.
• Conducts Quality Control procedures for analytical tests and instrumentation; evaluates results and implements corrective action when indicated.
• Performs instrument maintenance calibration standardization and troubleshooting with appropriate documentation.
• Verifies and reports patient results promptly either verbally written or through the use of the computer system.
• Seeks supervisory consultation when indicated concerning unusual results lab policy procedural questions or instrument problems.
• Guarantees the confidentiality of patient identity and data at all times
• Teaches and trains new employees.
• Participates in continuing education to maintain proficiency in procedures techniques and instrumentation; participates in research and the development of new procedures.
• Interacts with hospital personnel peers patients clients visitors and supervisory personnel productively and professionally.
• Understands and adheres to company policies as outlined in the Employee Policy Manual
• Performs related work as assigned i.e. Phlebotomy and clerical duties.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

Experience:

• One year as a Laboratory Technologist or three years of college with substantial course work in Chemistry and Biology plus one year of laboratory training.

Education: BS Degree in Medical Technology or Sciences expected.

Licenses Certifications and/or Registration:

• Licensed in the State of Nevada as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist General Supervisor is required
• National certification is required otherwise i.e. ASCP AMT ISCLT or NCA

EMR System: Cerner experience preferred

Shift: Sun/Mon/Tue Nights

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Venipuncture and Phlebotomy skills.
• Organize and prioritize the workflow (multitasking).
• Good communication skills.
