Director of Nursing Women and Childrens Division
Responsible for planning directing organizing implementing and evaluating the nursing practice within the Womens and Childrens Division (WAC) which include; a Labor and Delivery Unit with 7 triage beds 4 antepartum beds 12 recovery room beds 7 labor room and 3 operating rooms (ORs) a Mother Baby Unit with 31 beds a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with 30 beds a Pediatric Unit with 16 beds and a Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit (PIMCU) with 4 beds.
Provide leadership to nursing staff create opportunities for staff development advancement and succession planning.
Ensure that the goals of nursing and patient care services are achieved by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the New York Board of Nursing in accordance with the standards and guidelines of AWHONN ACOG and other obstetrical standards.
Participates in performance improvement activities to improve quality of nursing care promote positive patient outcomes and provide a costeffective environment.
Develop strategic plans policies and procedures according to current standards and in alignment with hospital goals.
Supports/ and participates in approved research programs and evidencebased projects.
Promotes safe quality patient care through intra/interdepartmental cooperation and collaboration.
Responsible for recruitment and staff retention.
Maintains unit compliance with regulatory agencies guidelines and mandates with JCHACO DOHMH CMS IHI.
Responsible for leading the team to BabyFriendly Designation successfully implemented mother baby rooming in skin to skin initiation for all stable newborns in the OR recovery room and labor rooms.
Developed a successful cross training program within the WAC Division to improve team collaboration enhanced nurses skills and the promotion of effective communication.
Serve as the nursing leadership representative on several committees such as: the HoPE Doula Program OB RN/MD IT workgroup DOHMH Respectful Birth Collaborative Maternal Morbidity and Mortality Collaborative (MMCH) The Birth Equity Improvement Project (BEIP) Maternal Health Quality Improvement Project (MHNQI) NICU Quality Improvement (NQHIN) and serve as the Mentor on the Maternal Child Health Shared Governance Committee.
Requirements:
Seven years of experience is required 5 of which were in a supervisory role
Education:
BSN required
Masters degree preferred
License:
RN License required
Additional Information:
Rotating weekends is a requirement and workers must report as scheduled including holidays.
