School Social Worker Extended School Year

Location: Batavia IL

Job Duties:

1. Individual Counseling: Provide oneonone counseling sessions with students to address social emotional and behavioral concerns that impact their academic performance.
   
2. Group Counseling: Facilitate group counseling sessions focusing on topics such as anger management social skills and conflict resolution.
   
3. Crisis Intervention: Respond to crises within the school community offering immediate support and resources to students staff and families as needed.
   
4. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers administrators and other school personnel to develop and implement interventions and support plans for students with social and emotional needs.
   
5. Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and rights of students particularly those from marginalized or underserved populations both within the school system and in the broader community.
   
6. Family Support: Provide support and resources to families to address issues that impact their childs academic and social functioning including conducting home visits when necessary.
   
7. Resource Coordination: Connect students and families with community resources such as mental health services housing assistance and financial support.
   
8. Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions assessments and interventions in compliance with school policies and legal requirements.
   
9. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with best practices in school social work and related fields.
   

Responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive social work services to students enrolled in the Extended School Year program.
   
2. Collaborate with school staff and community agencies to support student success and wellbeing.
   
3. Conduct assessments to identify students social emotional and behavioral needs.
   
4. Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to address identified needs.
   
5. Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as necessary.
   
6. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student concerns and develop appropriate interventions.
   
7. Communicate effectively with students families and other stakeholders..
   
8. Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with state and federal laws.
   

Requirements

1. Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
   
2. Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker endorsement.
   
3. Previous experience working as a school social worker preferred.
   
4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students families and colleagues.
   
5. Knowledge of child development traumainformed care and evidencebased interventions.
   
6. Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced educational environment independently and as part of a team.
   
7. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
   
8. Commitment to equity and cultural competence in working with diverse student populations.
