Network Infrastructure Design: The engineer should have experience and expertise in designing network infrastructures including the layout of server rooms patch rooms and the overall network architecture.
Network Component Knowledge: The engineer must have an understanding of network components such as switches routers patch panels and copper/fiber optic cabling.
Network Planning and Implementation: The engineer should be able to plan and implement the network infrastructure based on the project requirements. This includes mounting and unmounting network equipment and ensuring proper connectivity between server rooms and patch rooms.
IT Infrastructure Integration: Since the project involves adapting the IT infrastructure due to changes in production areas and buildings the engineer must have knowledge of integrating IT systems with the overall infrastructure. This could involve coordinating with other teams or departments to ensure seamless integration.
Industry Standards and Best Practices: The engineer should be wellversed in industry standards and best practices for network design and network cabling. They should ensure that the network is built according to general rules of technology and complies with any specific regulations or guidelines provided by MSD.
Troubleshooting and Problemsolving: Inevitably issues may arise during the project and the engineer should have strong troubleshooting and problemsolving skills to identify and resolve networkrelated problems. They should be able to diagnose connectivity issues and resolve them.
Project Management: As the project involves coordinating with different teams managing resources and ensuring timely completion the engineer should possess project management skills to effectively plan organize and execute the network infrastructure changes.
Prospective network administrators need at least a certificate or associate degree in a computerrelated discipline. Most employers require network administrators to hold a bachelors degree in computer science information technology or a comparable area
