Hatched Talent Solutions is supporting an exciting UK Government funded 5G Research & Development project and our clients are looking for an experienced Network Engineering Manager on a 12 month FTC, with likely extensions.

Project

The project is focused on Open RAN systems integration, core network setup, and project management. Key components include Remote Radio Units, Centralised Units, and Distributed Units. The project aims to develop a new MOCN gateway compliant with industry standards and integrate Open RAN small cells from cellXica and other providers.

Furthermore, the role involves collaborating with Systems Integrator Virtuser to design electro/mechanical systems aimed at reducing size, weight, power consumption, and visual impact. There's a focus on managing and accounting for power consumption, along with delivering an eco-friendly Mobile Insertion capability for deployment at temporary events.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, Operate and Lead an OpenRAN integration Lab
• Track record of managing and developing a team
• Training and Development of Apprentices (LPI and TIP Qualifications)
• Build and Configuration of (Dell & equivalent) Server Configuration – Ubuntu/Linux/ Kubernetes Environment
• Working with Suppliers and Project Partners to organise and coordinate Systems Integration
• Management of Data Centre / Comms Room Facilities (e.g. Bath Guildhall, Telehouse)
• Setup & Maintain Network Monitoring – Office Kit, Deployed Radios, Servers

Details

• Office-based, 37.5 hours per week (Newark Works, Bath)
• Salary - £50-60k
• Pension 9%
• Fixed term – 31/03/25 with likely extensions
• Driving License – Beneficial
