Job Summary

Sunshine Enterprise is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Specialist to join the team. Under general supervision the Program Coordinator will support compliance with cultural and linguistic (C&L) state and federal regulatory requirements.

Duration: up to 6 months

Location type: Onsite

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates incoming language translation and/or reviews requests of internal and external member materials.
  • Interacts directly with members and providers to coordinate and book facetoface interpreter requests with contracted interpreting vendors.
  • Coordinates the timely vending and completion of Alternative Format material such as Braille Audio and Large Print with contracted vendors.
  • Coordinates the vending of professional translation and review services in one or more of the following languages: Arabic Farsi Chinese Korean Spanish or Vietnamese (American Sign Language).
  • Assists in completing and/or responding to regulatory agency reports (Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) etc.) surveys audits and evaluations regarding C&L program.
  • Reviews researches and responds to member grievances related to contracted vendor issues.
  • Processes vendor invoices for translation and interpreter services timely and accurately.
  • Reviews analyzes and interprets regulations and internal/external policies and procedures related to cultural and linguistic services.
  • Participates in a missiondriven culture of highquality performance with a member focus on customer service consistency dignity and accountability.
  • Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short and longterm goals/priorities for the department

Experience & Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

2 years of experience in project coordination translations or interpreting services required.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above may also be qualifying.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in a health care related field or cultural and linguistic studies.
  • 2 years of experience in health maintenance organization (HMO) Medicare Medi Cal/Medicaid and health services.
  • 1 year of experience with a health plan or working with culturally diverse populations.
  • Professional education in project management translation interpretation or cultural competency training.
  • Experience in managed care and/or government programs.

Knowledge and Abilities to:

  • Develop rapport and establish and maintain effective working relationships with the supervisors staff and external contacts at all levels and with diverse backgrounds.
  • Work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Work a flexible schedule; available to participate in evening and weekend events.
  • Organize be analytical problemsolve and possess project management skills.
  • Work in a fastpaced environment and in an efficient manner.
  • Manage multiple projects and identify opportunities for internal and external collaboration.
  • Motivate and lead multiprogram teams and external committees/coalitions.
  • Utilize computer and appropriate software (e.g. Microsoft Office: Word Outlook Excel PowerPoint) and job specific applications/systems to produce correspondence charts spreadsheets and/or other information applicable to the position assignment

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

  • Ability to visually read information from computer screens forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Ability to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone telephone systems and facetoface interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing writing standing and reaching flexibility body movement for bending crouching walking kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects patients and/or equipment 10 to 25 pounds
