As a Medical Collection Specialist your role will center on the meticulous tracking of insurance claims to guarantee prompt reimbursement. Your responsibilities will extend to direct communication with payers involving proactive followups on outstanding claims. Utilizing effective communication channels you will log into portals to ascertain the status of claims and ensure their acceptance by insurance companies.

• Proven experience as a Medical Collection Specialist or in a similar role in healthcare.
  
• Strong knowledge of medical and insurance claim terminology.
  
• Familiarity with insurance claims processing and reimbursement.
  
• Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  
• Must have knowledge and experience resolving various types of claim denial.
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to effectively interact with physicians patients insurance companies and health care providers.
  
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  

Preferred but not required Qualifications:

• Degree in medical Billing or related field is a plus.
  
• Certification in Medical Billing and collections.
  
• Experience with thirdparty billing and insurance verification
  

• Track insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
  
• Communicate directly with payers to follow up on outstanding claims or logging into the portal to find out the status of the claims and ensure all claims were accepted by insurance companies.
  
• Conduct followup calls with payers and institutions until payment or resolution is obtained.
  
• Collect verify and enter into the billing system all insurance and thirdparty resources for payment.
  
• Understand and post payer denials so the assigned billing specialist can appeal accordingly based on payer guidelines and/or case agreements.
  
• Provide exceptional customer service for inquiries relating to assigned accounts.
  
• Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and billing codes.
  
• Maintain the confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  
• Attend business office and clinicwide meetings as needed.
