Overview

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies.
• Follow up on unpaid claims and resubmit as necessary.
• Process payments from insurance companies and patients.
• Research and appeal denied claims.
• Communicate with patients to address billing inquiries and resolve payment issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Stay updated on coding and billing guidelines and regulations.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate billing.
• Generate reports on billing activity and financial performance.

Required qualifications

• Associate s degree in Medical Billing or related field.
• Certification in Medical Billing and Coding is a plus.
• Proven experience as a Medical Billing Specialist or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in medical coding systems (e.g. ICD10 CPT).
• Thorough understanding of insurance procedures and guidelines.
• Excellent knowledge of billing software and electronic health records (EHR).
• Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fastpaced environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulations including HIPAA.
• Adaptability to evolving healthcare billing practices.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Customer service orientation and professional demeanor.
