Due to aggressive growth plans Polestar is currently looking to recruit an LV Power Systems Engineer.


Let us describe the challenge we offer

The Power Systems team is a new formed branch of the Polestar Electrical Infrastructure (EI) Group.

The EI Power Systems team own the Low Voltage (LV) Power System for our vehicle programmes. They are responsible for the design and validation of the LV Power System managing multiple stakeholders to ensure components within the LV power distribution are integrated to achieve performance and functional safety targets.

The purpose of this role is to lead the Power Systems development of our vehicle programmes whilst also expanding our inhouse Power Systems Engineering capabilities. Based in the UK this role will play a pivotal role in the planning and execution of the EI Power Systems Engineering roadmap.


What youll do:

The LV Power Systems Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Design and development of the LV Power Systems architecture for Polestar vehicles
  • Modelling of the LV Power Systems architecture and assessment against Functional Safety Requirements
  • Creation and publication of Power Systems Requirements Test Cases and Procedures
  • Generation and execution of LV Power Systems Design Validation (DV) plans
  • Ensuring Power Systems designs comply with Regulations and Standards (i.e. ensuring that the LV Power Systems design meets ASIL requirements)
  • Resolution of issues and identification of future improvements within the Power Systems domain


Who you are

We are looking for a proactive team player to join the EI Power Systems team who can bring experience within the Power Systems domain to support the development of Polestars vehicle lines and inhouse Engineering capabilities.

  • To be a great fit for this position we believe you have:
  • Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink or similar modelling tool
  • 8D and fault tree analysis
  • Failure Mode Avoidance (DFMEA)
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety Requirements (ISO 26262)
  • Knowledge of Electrical Engineering test equipment (i.e. oscilloscopes multimeters dataloggers) for LV systems
  • A thorough understanding of Electrical Engineering principals and how these apply to Power Systems (i.e. Ohms Law Kirchoffs Laws)
  • The ability to carry out analytical system validation activities and support physical system testing activities where required
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders
  • Experience with automotive product development process(es)
  • The ability to work as part of a dynamic team and constructively challenge the status quo
