CHI Mercy Health Medical Center is looking for Locum Pediatric Call coverage!

BID DUE DATE: FIRST to FILL! Files will be presented as they come in.

Dates of Coverage:
  • Apr 1921

  • Orientation budget for 23 days.

  • Details:
  • 24 hour call with 8 hours rounding.
  • Setting: Inpatinet Levll II nursurey
  • Duties: Attending Physician for Inpatient Peds and ED Consults. Rounding on inpatient peds and newborns in Family Birth Center. Stabilize and transfer critical patients.
  • FTE: 1.0
  • Required Procedures: Lumbar puncture intubations umbilical lines
  • EMR: Patient Keeper (interface with Meditech

  • Additional Details / Questions Answered by Facility:
  • 18 bed ward but the bulk of the work will be in Level 2 Nursery.
  • Not required to be present for births just examine and treat neos.
  • Call back is minimal
  • 6 Bed Peds unit Average Census of 2 PPD.
  • 46 Newborns 01 pediatric average per day.
  • 24 newborns < 1 pediatric average admits.
  • Call Requirements 7am7am (24 hours per calendar day). # of hours spent inhouse varies depending on census and acuity on average 56 hours on clinical care per day. Can opt to spend extra time teaching students/residents.
  • When rounds/discharges are finished we take call with a 15minute inperson response time for emergencies such as neonatal resuscitations. ED calls for consults and admissions don t have as strict of a turnaround time.
  • Are circumcisions required No.
  • Are the pediatric hospitalists required to attend every delivery or just high risk RTs (along with an RN) attend highrisk deliveries and are well trained in NRP. We are very rarely asked to attend highrisk deliveries (12x/month) but will be called emergently if the baby is not responding to initial resuscitation with RN/RT or if baby needs persistent CPAP etc outside of the delivery room.
  • Patients per day seen on the pediatric Med/Surg floor Varies generally 04. Average 12 during respiratory season
  • Open or closed Pediatric ICU We don t have an inhouse pediatric ICU. But we do provide some ICU level care (DKA highflow nasal cannula) on the floor; and some level 2 nursery care (CPAP hypoglycemia management NG feeds hemodynamically stable sepsis) for the neonates.
  • Neonatology support Sacred Heart is available for phone consults and transfers. The transfer team is dedicated NICU staff who will help further stabilize the baby asneeded before transporting back to Eugene.

  • Rates to Submit:
  • Malpractice rates Must be included in the rate.
  • Orientation Will be 23 days of orientation (half the hourly rate kicks in after 8 hours) per hour of orientation or training beyond 8 hours
  • 24Hour Call (Must include 8 Hours Gratis) xx2811 cap Per 24 hours to hold the pager to include 8 hours gratis
  • Callback xx315 cap Must match hourly rate per hour of patient contact hours after gratis hours completed gratis prorate to MSA terms
  • Holiday rates All must be 1.5x the regular rate per CSH policies

    • Local candidates HIGHLY PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED.
    • Disclose if the provider has worked at any other CHI/Dignity facility REQUIRED
    • COVID VACCINATED REQUIRED
