Tasks

You will adapt and improve customized Linux kernels for the needs of the operation of thousands of servers and data in the range of petabytes and billions of inodes in collaboration with system administrators and experts.

The following tasks are part of your field of work:

• Fault analysis and debugging of Linux kernels also in operation.
• Fixes and testing also for the needs of operations.
• Porting and longterm maintenance of downstream patches.
• Performance and reliability improvements for the use cases of operations.

Qualifications

• You are able to work with the source code of the operationally relevant parts of customized Linux kernels where the upstream has a total of millions of lines of code.
• Master in Computer Science with a focus on Operating Systems or equivalent.
• Experience with the programming languages and development tools used by the Linux kernel.
• Knowledge of Linux kernel architecture and the tasks of its operationally relevant components.
• Willingness for longterm learning on the job and in teams.
• Passion for OpenSource and the Linux Kernel.
