EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS MANDATORY

  • Active member of the bar in any U.S. jurisdiction and Juris Doctor(JD) degree

WORK EXPERIENCE MANDATORY

  • Requires Law degree or currently attending an ABAaccredited law school having completed at least two years of study or an equivalent level of legal training or experience; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted. Additionally must have at least two years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order related projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems legal research procedures and legal research resources.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have handson familiarity with a variety of computer applications including word processing databases (such as document review and file management systems) spreadsheets and imaging.
  • Role also requires handson familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience with civil litigation (preferred) especially if such experience involves complex federal cases and jury trials

WORK EXPERIENCE NICE TO HAVE

  • Prior Agency Law clerk experience

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performing legal research and drafting legal memoranda motions and briefs;
  • Drafting investigatory subpoenas and discovery requests;
  • Reviewing and analyzing documents and information obtained during investigations or turned over during litigation discovery and assisting AUSAs in presentations meetings depositions interviews and court proceedings;
  • Assisting in the preparation for and participating in witness interviews and depositions;
  • Analyzing documents and information to identify violations of the Controlled Substances Act and/or the False Claims Act and avenues for enforcement of such violations;
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to Assistant U.S. Attorneys and staff and participating in strategy meetings;
  • Working collaboratively with Assistant U.S. Attorneys and legal support staff.
  • Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Manager performing complex legal research; preparing draft legal documents such as motions briefs memoranda of law etc.; reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation. Acts independently and/or as a team leader on larger projects. Responsibilities may include acting as primary interface with trial attorneys experts and other client staff.
