Laboratory Technician Scientific Collaborator in Protein Biochemistry

The Structural and Molecular Microbiology research group affiliated with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology (VIB) is seeking a motivated and detailoriented laboratory technician / scientific collaborator to support protein biochemical research. The candidate will be involved in academic and industrial research projects related to the use of protein nanofibers in biological textile materials.

Responsibilities

• Cultivation of bacterial cultures for recombinant protein production
• Purification of proteins
• Characterization of proteins and protein nanofibers through SDSPAGE Western blot electron microscopy and DLS
• Contribution to the support of practical work related to protein production and purification

Requirements

• You have a Bachelors degree in Laboratory Technology / Masters degree in Bioengineering or Molecular Biology
• You take pride and satisfaction in accurate neat and efficient work
• You are a strong team player with effective communication and reporting skills
• Experience in protein biochemistry is a plus but recent graduates in laboratory technology can receive additional training.
