Laboratory Technician

MF daytime working hours

Description:

We are looking for a Lab Technician for a research lab in our company located in Johnston Iowa. With guidance from supervision this person will assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research. Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the team.

Duties will include:

Culture and process microbial strains.

Extract and measure protein and/or DNA from various biological samples.

Provide support in sample prep for whole genome sequencing.

Maintain inventory of basic lab supplies and equipment.

Maintain detailed biological sample inventory in the lab.

Migrate inventory records into databases.

In addition to the above job responsibilities other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Microbiology or other related science.

Previous laboratory experience is preferred.

Proficient knowledge of and experience in aseptic techniques.

Very good organization skills.

Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Other experience (Preferred but not required)

Experience to work with BSL2 microorganisms.

Experience with molecular biology techniques.

Experience in genomic DNA extraction from biological samples.

Experience with Access and basic computer programing.
