Working under the guidanceof the Instructional Design and Content Development Manager the Junior Instructional Design and Content Developer will play a key role in developing blended learning resources. Responsibilities include actively participating in the incorporation of progressive pedagogical approaches overseeing trial phases and refining WSETs courses. Additionally the Junior Developer will contribute to the continuous enhancement of WSET courses by applying the ADDIE methodology and embracing inclusive design principles.Here are some details of the role:
Analysis:
Assist in identifying learner requirements and objectives through needs analysis techniques.
Collaborate with various teams to gather requirements for learning design ensuring consideration of diverse learner needs.
Work with Product Planning and Content Operations team to identify deadlines for delivery of instructional content.
Use learner personas considering a range of abilities and preferences to tailor personalised course content and delivery.
Stay informed about emerging trends in blended learning and best practices.
Collaborate with industry peers and participate in professional learning communities that prioritise inclusive learning experiences. When appropriate attend live or virtual events to stay appraised and report findings back to relevant stakeholders.
Design:
Apply inclusive design principles to Instructional Design when creating blended learning course components that accommodate various learning requirements.
Support the Instructional Design and Content Development team by working across qualifications and projects to ensure the delivery of learning materials.
Assist in developing content for facetoface online and virtual delivery that reflects the curriculum and examination content.
Contribute to the design of flexible content allowing for multiple means of representation and engagement.
Development:
Assist in the design scope and development of all learning materials for all WSET subject streams; this includes but is not limited to classroom virtual and online learning resources.
Utilise authoring tools like Articulate 360 to create interactive and accessible learning materials.
Collaborate with the Multimedia Designer to produce multimodal content aligned with WSET brand guidelines.
Ensure all developed materials adhere to internal style guidelines. Manage and update these style guides where required.
Ensure all stakeholders are accurately scoped on project and build timelines.
Implementation:
When required train internal teams on design processes and principles.
Manage the Learning Design teams product update cycle each academic year as well as any urgent updates that occur throughout the year. Gather all required updates and addenda to ensure they are accurately reflected in course content.
Assess and assimilate course feedback into live content where required.
Support in the process of localising learning content when appropriate.
Evaluation:
Assist in assessing the efficacy of course content by interpreting data on learner usage.
Contribute to continuous improvement of course materials and delivery methods based on evaluation findings.
Contribute to regular design thinking workshops to brainstorm creative solutions to educational challenges.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback and iterative course development with a focus on inclusive practices.
Contribute to the successful overall operation of the Trust by undertaking such other tasks as may be requested.
Essential Criteria:
Proficiency in Instructional Design and creation of learning content
Familiarity with at least one major LMS (preferably Canvas) and digital authoring tools (preferably Articulate 360 suite)
Knowledge of editorial processes and principles for learning content.
Understanding of adult education and training principles.
Interest in investigating new learning technologies and applying accessible course design principles.
Ability to adhere to company style guidelines.
Collaborative worker with experience of working crossdepartmentally and briefing other teams.
Strong communication skills including professional presentations and highquality written English.
Desirable Criteria:
Certification in relevant instructional design or eLearning development programs.
Ability to interpret and implement takings from learner engagement reports.
Knowledge of wine spirits beer and/or sake production.
Experience working with content in languages other than English.
Ability to manage complex projects and evaluate work from thirdparty providers.
