• Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards respecting the privacy of all parties involved in the interpreting process.
  
• Work collaboratively with clients service providers and other professionals to ensure effective communication and understanding.
  
• Adjust communication style and strategies based on the needs and preferences of individuals including those who use different sign language systems.
  
• Demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity recognizing and respecting the diverse backgrounds and communication preferences of the individuals you serve.
  
• Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation between deaf or hardofhearing individuals and hearing individuals in diverse settings such as meetings classrooms healthcare appointments and public events.
  

Requirements

• PEL with Educational Interpreter endorsement required
  
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter is preferred.
  
• Adherence to the Code of Professional Conduct for Sign Language Interpreters.
  
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current on advancements in sign language and interpreting practices.
