Our internship programme has led to the offering of permanent and fulltime associate consultantpositions to our interns inand 2023. We are delighted to continue this in 2024 and startthe search for our next Intern.

As an intern you will work with and support HAMERKOPs consultants with research and analyses inrelation to prefeasibility feasibility impact certification and monitoring of climate change mitigationprojects eligible to carbon financing mechanisms; as well as more policyoriented and institutionalresearch. Most projects are taking place in the context of natural ecosystems (e.g. forestconservation reforestation mangroves etc.) energy access (cooking and drinking water)occasionality other sectors and support international development in SubSaharan Africa SoutheastAsia and increasingly in South America.

The majority of HAMERKOPs clients and partners are private project developers and financialsponsors international NGOs startups carbon trading desks and international developmentagencies.

You will be expected to support a range of tasks that can include:

Research on current and upcoming trends and hot topics: regulatory and governance changes(e.g. ICVCM Art. 6 COP 29); review and change in the carbon certification standards landscape;the rise of carbon certification standard labels (e.g. ABACUS CORSIA CA SDGs etc.); thepotential of natural assisted generation to benefit from carbon finance; the jungle ofintermediaries and procurement challenges on the VCM; the use of digital monitoring reportingand verification technologies etc.
Technical consulting work: emission reduction calculation monitoring and data analysis draftingof technical reports analysis of developing legislation carbon finance project eligibilityassessment among others.
Others: supporting education material drafting implementing of team work improvementmeasures etc.

Candidate desired skills and knowledge
Required

BSc or Masters degree in a technical or quantitative field related to climate change andenvironmental sciences (e.g. conservation forestry agriculture marine ecologyenergygeospatial analysis)
Attention to detail strong analytical and problemsolving skills and ability to produce well presented errorfree results and reports
Curious and keen to learn
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously
Good verbal and written communication skills
Willing to support a small but growing and purposedriven consulting firm
Spoken and written fluency in English
No previous knowledge of finance is required

Desired
Knowledge of climate change forestry and agriculture issues in the context of developingcountries gained through a previous exposure or experience in a related subject
Spoken and written fluency in French
Prior exposure to greenhouse gas emission accounting notably in the natural environment aspart of a research project or a prior internship
Previous exposure or experience supporting or working with a consulting firm
Advanced knowledge of Word PowerPoint and Excel

Location
Our office is in London. Remote working is in operation at HAMERKOP but interns will be expected tospend 4 days a week at the office with the team.

Terms of internship
This position is for a 4month fulltime internship although we may consider different period oftime for university courses requiring a specific internship period
We are currently looking for 2 interns to start in Q2 and Q3 in 2024
The start date of the internship is flexible and could be between April and September 2024depending on the candidate preference
The candidate must be based in the UK and/or have the right to intern in the UK
The candidate must be on its final study year and willing to stay in London as this programme ismeant for students looking for a permanent position after their internship
London Living Wage will be paid to the successful candidates

You should expect the recruitment process to be made of 3 rounds:(i) after reviewing allapplications we will convey a first round of interview with the head of the advisory services anda member of the team for 1012 candidates;(ii) those shortlisted will be requested to undergo aquick technical assessment; and finally(iii) the remaining 45 candidates will be undergoing aninterview with the CEO.

Q&A Webinar (21 Feb 24)
A first for this years internship we will produce a live webinar presentation on what an AssociateConsultant does on a daytoday basis (in a Q&A format) by 2 of our current team who have bothbeen through the internship programme in previous years and can provide an unfiltered testimonyof their time at HAMERKOP. We will record this and make it available on our website for those whowould be unable to attend.
