The International Director of Finance & Operations is responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative operations of Light for the World including budget management financial reporting monitoring cash flow developing and maintaining best practices. Looking into legal requirements of donation seals and managerial tasks for the department is important. The role holder plays a key role in driving financial strategy and planning ensuring strong confederation arrangements across the organization and in leading innovative transition projects.

We are looking for a person who takes the lead for the overall development and successful delivery of the Finance & Operation function managing it operationally strategically including visionary leading and managing the team leads responsible for controlling accounting IT and systems and process and change management (leading 4 teams with approx. 25 people).

Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans and goals that support the organizations mission and vision.

Tasks

  • Develop and further implement financial strategies that support the organizations mission and goals as well as the transition towards confederation structure and ensure the financial accountability of the organization in line with respective legal requirements.
  • Manage and steer accounting (incl. annual reports and financial statements) controlling systems/digitalization and risk management as well as related process management including cost efficiency measures.
  • Oversee the implementation of objective and key results (OKRs) measures for the confederation leading on design implementation and review of systems processes and procedures.
  • Represent Finance & Operations at senior leadership level and Board of Trustees provide analysis and recommendations.
  • Manage relationships with external partners including banks auditors and other financial or technical service providers; and foster a meaningful relationship with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Support the transformation and change of the organization towards a leaner structure with independent confederation members by supporting related financial analysis and implementation (incl. assistance to the confederation members on decision making)

Requirements

  • Fully qualified financial expert (education in accounting controlling finance or related filed economics and business administration)
  • Previous experience of working in a management/ team lead position within a complex multidisciplinary organization preferrable in a confederation set up
  • First experience in transition/change management and financial system innovation (investment funds project support in confederation set up similar)
  • Proven ability to scan and interpret national legal financial and other frameworks as they impact on the finances of the organization ensuring a proactive approach and advising/informing CEO and senior leadership team
  • Ability to understand mentor and lead teams engaging effectively at all levels of the organization with a handson mentality
  • Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to make decisions as well as advise on them based on data analysis
  • Important levels of integrity in line with expectations of accountancy profession
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and gender equality as well as commitment to diversity and inclusion in leadership
