Intermediate User Experience Designer

Job Description:

We are seeking a User Experience (UX) Designer who will be responsible for creating user friendly visually appealing interfaces with a focus on optimizing user experience and enhancing user engagement. The Resource will use various design tools and methodologies to gather user feedback prototype and iterate designs to deliver high quality products that meet the users needs.

The resource will be involved in providing user experience design services on an inflight agile cloud software development project as well as several small projects within the Digital Content Management and Delivery branch of the Curriculum Division. The Resource will be joining an extremely creative and highly talented team of individuals that are passionate about creating great products for our educational partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work as part of an agile software development team to create wireframes mockups and highfidelity user interface designs based on the user research findings and requirements.
• Build interactive prototypes to allow stakeholders and the development team to experience and review application functionality and user flows.
• Conduct user research through interviews and surveys to gather insights into the needs and pain points of the target users.
• Conduct usability testing to validate design decisions and ensure application usability and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with project team members and possibly other contracted services to provide produce and evaluate graphic design products or projects for a wide range of digital curriculum products. Graphic design services provided may include wireframes mockups visual personas swim lanes scenarios and graphical user interfaces.
• Gain subject matter expertise in one or more areas related to provincial curriculum development and delivery to provide usability feedback and design services.
• Design review software features prior to going into production.
• Support the production of various levels of prototypes to aid the design and usability testing process including interactive Figma designs HTML5 prototypes and paper prototypes.
• Provide consulting services across multiple projects offering advice and expert opinions to project teams and staff on user experience design.
• Participate in design workshops.

Mandatory Skills and Expertise:

• University degree in Computer Science UX Design Interaction Design Graphic Design Web Design HumanComputer Interaction (HCI) or a related discipline from an accredited postsecondary institution and two (2) years of experience providing user experience design services on webbased software development application projects.
• Twoyear diploma in Computer Science UX Design Interaction Design Graphic Design Web Design HumanComputer Interaction (HCI) or a related discipline from an accredited postsecondary institution and two (2) years of experience providing user experience design services on webbased software development application projects.
• Oneyear certificate in Computer Science UX Design Interaction Design Graphic Design Web Design HumanComputer Interaction (HCI) or a related discipline from an accredited postsecondary institution and four (4) years of experience providing user experience design services on webbased software development application projects.
• Must have experience in the role of user experience designer on agile webbased software development application projects
• Familiar with relevant design application software
• Must have experience with HTML5 and CSS
