Innovation Space Assistant

Join an awardwinning Library! The Schaumburg Township District Library is looking for an Innovation Space Assistant to join our team. We are looking for an energetic competent and detailoriented Innovation Space Assistant to support our Central location.

This part time hourly position working 30 hours a week to include nights days and weekends.

Our schedules are based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed. The hourly rate range for this position is $19.30$24.13 based on skills and qualifications.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Innovation Space Assistant fosters a creative and usercentered environment while assisting Library customers and staff in accessing Innovation Space services equipment and technologies in person and in the community. The Innovation Space Assistant provides technical expertise and assistance with the ongoing development and improvement of Innovation Space services.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES:

• Ability to be a teamplayer and work pleasantly and effectively with all patrons staff supervisors and others.
• Ability to learn various job functions perform them correctly and understand the necessity in overall library operations.
• Ability to independently function efficiently in a changing and varied environment with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on details.
• Ability to follow all library policies and procedures.
• Ability to demonstrate a commitment to incorporating principles of Diversity Equity and Inclusion into everyday work.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS FOR THE POSITION:

• Experience with Makerspace equipment: 3D modeling rendering printing laser cutting CNC machines sewing machines audiovisual equipment and software and other creative technology tools.
• Experience with 3d scanning
• Experience with 2D and 3D design software including Adobe suite Auto desk software Inkscape and CorelDraw
• Ability to educate and encourage advocacy for the library.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:

• Staff the Innovation Space during open hours.
• Provide instructional guidance for patrons using Innovation Space equipment.
• Maintain inventory of materials for staff and patron use.
• Provide training on Innovation Space equipment for staff and patrons.
• Attends staff meetings and participates in other committee meetings as needed.
• Maintain and troubleshoot equipment.
• Cultivate an atmosphere conducive to learning creating and exploring.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• 3 or more years of previous experience working in a large makerspace is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent knowledge and skill in areas related to the responsibilities of the position is preferred.
• Customer service experience is required.
