About this position

Location: Argentina Brazil Chile Paraguay or Uruguay

We are looking for a Senior Associate / Associate Investment Management Officer professional for the Infrastructure and Energy Division (IEN) of the Investment Operations Department (INO) of IDB Invest.

INO is responsible for clients and partners engagement for the origination structuring closing and supervision of transactions and projects that meet our requirements.

Our Infrastructure and Energy Division covers the Transport Water and Sanitation Energy and Social Infrastructure (Education & Health) sectors and is organized under three regions. One of these regions is the Southern Cone (CSC) and the team is responsible for developing new business opportunities and delivering IDB Invest business plan in Argentina Brazil Chile Paraguay or Uruguay.

What you will do

• Under the overall coordination of the Regional Head for the CSC Region you will support the structuring negotiation approval and closing of infrastructure projects in the sectors covered by the Infrastructure & Energy Division throughout the region.
• Deal Origination and Execution: i) Support senior team members in identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities ii) Assist in the due diligence process conducting thorough research and analysis to assess the feasibility and risks associated with transactions iii) Contribute to the preparation and review of transaction documents ensuring accuracy and compliance with IDB Invest standards.
• Collaboration and Teamwork: i) Work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams across IDB Invest particularly on environmental social and corporate governance safeguards development effectiveness legal advisory risk and integrity functions to ensure the seamless execution of transactions ii) Foster a teamoriented environment by actively contributing ideas sharing expertise and providing mentorship to junior team members iii) Collaborate with IDB experts to offer the best solutions to clients and in order to catalyze financing for the growing demand for infrastructure iv) support the Portfolio Management Division as needed on supervising the portfolio of Infrastructure & Energy projects.
• Financial Analysis and Modeling: i) Conduct indepth financial analysis including building and maintaining sophisticated financial models to support investment decisions ii) Perform scenario analysis including running sensitivity analyses over financial model and preparing results to be presented for decision making.
• Client Presentations and Communication: i) Prepare client presentations pitch materials and other documentation to effectively communicate sophisticated financial information ii) Engage in client interactions participating in meetings presentations and discussions to address client needs and provide strategic advice.
• Market Research and Industry Analysis: i) Stay abreast of market trends industry developments and competitive landscapes to provide valuable insights for decisionmaking ii) Conduct thorough research on specific sectors and companies to identify potential opportunities and risks.
• Project Management: i) Effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines associated with various projects ii) Take ownership of specific aspects of transactions and projects ensuring timely and accurate completion.
• Continuous Learning and Development: i) Proactively seek opportunities for professional development staying current on industry best practices trends and emerging technologies ii) Contribute to the development of junior team members through mentorship training and knowledge sharing.
• Relationship Building: i) Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients investors and other key stakeholders ii) Act as a liaison between the firm and clients ensuring high levels of client satisfaction through effective communication and responsiveness.

Education: You hold a Masters MBA or equivalent in Finance Business Administration Engineering and/or other relevant fields. Academic specialization in infrastructure development and/or transaction management is desirable.

Experience: You have at least 2 years of relevant professional experience in loan origination structuring structured finance (project finance) or corporate finance transactions. Confirmed experience in a similar role in an investment or advisory firm bank or infrastructure company would be desirable. Strong client relationship experience and skills are also highly valued.

Languages:

Argentina Chile Paraguay or Uruguay: You are proficient in oral and written English and Spanish; knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.

Brazil: You are proficient in oral and written English and Portuguese; knowledge of Spanish is a plus.

Requirements

• Citizenship: You are either a citizen a resident with legal permit or eligible to obtain valid residency or legal permit to work in the country in Argentina (Buenos Aires) Brazil (So Paulo) Chile (Santiago) Paraguay (Asuncin) or Uruguay (Montevideo) without the need for sponsorship by IDB Invest.
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity including spouse) working at the IDB IDB Invest or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

National staff contract 36 months initially renewable upon mutual agreement.
