The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist (EHS) reporting to the VP of Operations is tasked with ensuring compliance with federal state and local regulations regarding health safety and environmental matters within facilities. This encompasses inspections audits compliance measures and corrections within the allocated annual budget. The role demands proactive development planning communication execution and management of all health safety and building maintenance aspects.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s Degree preferred focusing on Occupational Safety & Health Management or a related science/engineering field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of EHS Management experience including facility management
  • Possession of relevant EHS certifications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal and state regulations.
  • Previous involvement in independent or thirdparty audits encompassing inspections audit tracking and corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in Cal/OSHA regulations and experience with regulatory bodies such as OSHA and EPA.
  • Ability to analyze information and make practical decisions.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple projects/tasks prioritize effectively communicate project/task statuses and ensure timely completion.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Oversee environmental health safety security facilities and sustainability activities to ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations along with company EHS SOPs and policies.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with management and staff to embed EH&S programs into daily laboratory operations promoting a safetycentric culture.
  • Develop manage and update EH&S policies procedures and recordkeeping systems to monitor incidents training and corrective actions in line with company objectives and sustainability goals.
  • Coordinate facilitate and conduct training sessions including New Employee Safety Orientation and Safe Work Practices training.
  • Track and report EH&S performance metrics per company and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct EH&S audits and inspections following established practices communicate audit outcomes and devise and monitor remedial actions and action plans to uphold company sustainability and ensure compliance.
  • Audit and inspect buildings sites and equipment for maintenance appearance and repair formulating policies and guidelines for facility inspection maintenance and repair.


Key Responsibilities: Administer bi-weekly payroll including analyzing and inputting data such as garnishments, leave accruals, and deductions. Oversee the recruitment process, collaborating with managers to identify, interview, and onboard qualified candidates. Participate in disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed. Implement and maintain HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Coordinate meetings to educate employees on benefits and distribute necessary notices. Develop and maintain affirmative action programs and ensure compliance with EEO regulations. Compile and submit OSHA and worker's compensation reports annually. Handle employee relations matters, escalating complex issues to the Senior HR Manager. Conduct stay and exit interviews, maintaining trend data for retention strategies. Manage accurate employee records in HRIS and other databases. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or a related field. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in HR Generalist or similar roles, with specific experience in California. Three (3) years of payroll processing experience required. Proficiency with HRIS systems; Kronos experience is advantageous. Intermediate knowledge of California Wage & Hour laws. Familiarity with FMLA regulations and other employment laws. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and project management abilities. Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
