About Client:

Our Client is one of the oldest Company operating in the Sweeteners and Nutraceuticals space. It has a diversified portfolio of products including bioproducts nutraceuticals and cogeneration of power. It is also a leader in organic farming and sustainable agriculture.

Location: Chennai.

Roles & Responsibility:

1. Experience: At least twenty years experience in agriculture research and worked with reputed company / research institute and have the managerial skills to execute the commercial research. Ph.D. in breeding/ agronomy / entomology is most preferable.

2. Management skills: Managerial capability to handle multiple disciplined teams consist of varietal development crop production Crop protection analytical and technical staff in sugarcane research and focus on research project to deliver products & services to the business requirements. Able to align with cane operation & extension team to deliver the new products and services to the farmers.

3. Research skills: Head R&D stay updated on the latest research and technologies in sugarcane arena. Rich experience in field trials and studies to improve crop management practices and test innovative tools or techniques to lead and guide the team. Data analytical skill to arrive the meaning full decision from various trials.

4. Net working: Need to connect with national & international research institutes collaborate with various agencies to lead new research projects field trials for the business requirements.

5. Breeding: Experience in plant breeding develop strategies to develop varieties to suit current requirement of the industry. Need to guide the team on various breeding methods in sugarcane support the commercializing new varieties.

6. Crop nutrition: Sound knowledge on soil analytics to evaluate nutrient levels and develop tailored fertilizer recommendations for various zones. Provide recommendations on nutrient requirements and application methods to ensure optimal nutrient uptake by the crop.

7. Irrigation and water management: Needs to advise on micro irrigation practices and develop water management plans for sugarcane cultivation.

8. Training and education: Need to organize training sessions and workshops to educate farmers and cane field staff on good agricultural practices new technologies and advancements in sugarcane farming. Also provide guidance on crop management techniques and help troubleshoot any issues faced by farmers.

9. Crop planning and management: Experience to develop and implement the crop plan along with cane operation considering factors like soil type nutrients water availability etc. He should ensure the sustainable and efficient use of resources like fertilizer water and agrochemicals.

10. Field assessments and monitoring: Organize fields survey to assess crop health growth and yield potential. Analyse soil fertility and nutrient levels to provide recommendations for fertilizer application.

Overall: Head R&D play a pivotal role in optimizing sugarcane production by providing farmers with new varieties technical expertise ensuring sustainable crop management practices and facilitating the adoption of innovations in the field.
