Role overview

We are looking for a Group Accountant (recently qualified ACA accountant) to join our head office team in London to support the Group Finance function with Technical Accounting Matters Group external reporting and other Group matters. Reporting to the Senior Group Accountant you will be part of the Group Financial Controllers team and work with other stakeholders including Finance teams within our internal businesses our deputy CFO and Group CFO.

As a Group Accountant at Next 15 you will:

  • Perform the accounting for technical group matters including acquisition accounting IFRS 16 lease accounting equity schemes under IFRS 2 and contingent consideration liabilities

  • Perform elements of the Group consolidation and supporting accounting entries

  • Remain uptodate with new accounting standards and brief the Finance Managers within our internal businesses on any upcoming changes

  • Oversee the implementation of any accounting changes across the Group and support the Finance teams across our internal businesses in adopting these as well as providing guidance for accounting for key balances across the Group such as revenue recognition

  • Be the goto for the Finance teams within our internal businesses for any accounting queries

  • Support in preparing the Group Annual Report and halfyear interim report including preparation of the consolidated Group notes and other disclosures

  • Prepare statutory accounts for the UK agencies (internal businesses)

  • Work with the external auditor throughout the year and manage their interaction with the Group and our agencies

  • Support the agency Finance teams with Group reporting requirements and the use of the Group consolidation system

  • Help to drive best practices across the Group in areas such as working capital

  • Own the process of striking off nontrading and dormant entities involving working with the head office legal CoSec and tax teams

  • Help integrate any new acquisitions in the Group with training and supporting the finance and management team of the new acquisition

  • Perform additional financial audit checks for our internal businesses on an annual basis and be involved in the preparation of first draft calculations for payouts on contingent consideration and equity schemes

  • Support other Group projects including financial and commercial due diligence of potential acquisitions

  • Interact and work with our Risk and Compliance function to help drive best practices and improvement in accounting controls across the group as well as drive standardisation in reporting

  • Support Group banking including review of Group covenant reporting ensuring we remain within the terms of our RCF and preparation of analysis needed by our bank as requested from time to time

You will bring:

  • ACA qualification with knowledge of Group accounting matters such as consolidations acquisition accounting and IFRS 2

  • Proficiency in financial models and Excel skills

  • Ability to use own initiative and work proactively

  • Stakeholder management skills with experience explaining complex accounting matters
