At ev.energy we are building the world s largest Virtual Power Plant by connecting electric vehicles with the energy system. To date we have a community of over 100,000 EV drivers who are helping to balance smart electricity grids across the UK, US, Europe and Australia.

We are looking for a talented professional with commercial & technical experience in Demand Side Response to help scale our grid services business globally.

In this role, you will be working to accelerate the decarbonization of transport and energy by expanding our Virtual Power Plant and making electric vehicles part of the solution for a smart, flexible, zero-carbon energy system.

Day to day, you ll be working to unlock and scale new flexibility contracts with energy utilities across Great Britain, California, Texas and other markets. You ll also work closely with the commercial, growth and engineering teams to help shape our technology roadmap and the product propositions we offer to EV drivers, energy networks, energy retailers, charger manufacturers and vehicle OEMs

This industry is moving fast, and this role will involve keeping up to date with key policy and regulation evolving in the EV and Net-Zero space. Reporting to the Head of Grid & Data Services, this position is fully remote, ideally positioned in the East Coast US, UK or Central Europe time zones. We have regular local meet-ups and quarterly company team weeks to keep everyone connected and supported.

We re a growing and agile team, who are already established in the UK, US and Germany since our incorporation in 2018. We are a Certified BCorp, meaning we meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable processes for tendering, bidding, and contract management of flexibility services as we scale from tens to thousands of grid service contracts.
  • Run our Virtual Power Plant operations, increasing efficiency and revenue throughput.
  • Manage and grow client accounts with all 6 UK DSOs and National Grid ESO in Great Britain
  • Grow our position in California s FLEXmarkets, by working with our partners Recurve and the California CCAs and investor-owned utilities
  • Launch new grid-service aggregation programs in Texas and New York
  • Support market entry strategy to deliver grid services in new markets across North America, Europe and Australia.
  • Help to build/scale a global team of analysts, traders and account managers once revenue milestones are reached.

Key Attributes for the role

  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in energy flexibility markets
  • Understanding of different flex markets across countries, and their participation requirements
  • Global knowledge of relevant policy development regarding electricity markets and demand side response technologies
  • Ability to problem solve and think of solutions to difficult technical and/or client challenges you might not have encountered before
  • Strong delivery focus, taking on end-to-end ownership of projects and/or products with an eye toward quality and client satisfaction
  • Self-management and drive; willing to proactively take on complex challenges
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to flex between senior clients and the internal engineering and sales teams

An awesome applicant will have

  • Excellent data analytics skills and use of tools inc. Excel and SQL
  • A track record of delivering complex projects as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in a senior operations role in energy flexibility

The important details

Starting: Immediately

Location: Remotely based in the UK, US or Europe (please note you must have legal authorization to work in the country where you are based - we cannot sponsor visas at this time)

Annual Salary: 67,500 - 80,000 // US$107,000 - US$127,000

Equity: Share options equivalent of 37,800 or $51,700 - vested over 4 years

Electric Car Allowance*: > 7,500/yr // >$12,000/yr

Annual Leave: 25 days per year + national holidays

Benefits: Private medical insurance and 401(k)/pension, plus private dental, vision and life insurance for US-based employees

*The EV allowance provides for up to 10% additional base salary for you to put towards the costs of running or renting an electric vehicle. The purpose of the allowance is to further the reach of zero carbon transportation, but also to help us test our product.
