Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Heater Specialist Engineer to join our Global Manufacturing Excellence Team within our Global Manufacturing Support Department (GMSD). GMSD is a multidisciplinary organization with interface to technical and in some cases business support requirements of Domestic Refining & NGL Fractionation Admin Area and This Company Affiliates. Its function caters mainly to the technical needs of Global Manufacturing operating facilities management and driving the performances of operating facilities in executing corporate programs and initiatives towards operational excellence and value creation. Your primary role will be to provide technical support to operating facilities projects technology deployment and talent development of young Engineers. You will conduct special studies and analysis in a specialized asset integrity field.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct both simple and complex analyses related to the design specification and applications engineering tasks associated with fired equipment such as boilers and furnaces.
  • Evaluate select specify and engineer fired equipment packages that meet design needs ensuring reliable costeffective and efficient operation.
  • Select and implement appropriate designs for fired equipment.
  • Perform field troubleshooting and technical assessments for fired equipment including boilers and furnaces.
  • Actively participate in major Turnarounds and Inspections (T&Is) as well as emergency plant shutdowns.
  • Provide technical support to maintenance support organizations to ensure the proper functioning of fired equipment.
  • Calculate the remaining life of heater tubes and develop a safe and optimized tube replacement schedule.
  • Conduct investigations of fired equipment failures to identify root causes and implement preventive measures to avoid such failures in the future.
  • Develop repair procedures as required to address issues with fired equipment.
  • Review detailed drawings and material specifications as requested.
  • Participate in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) Studies reviews to ensure safety and compliance.

Requirements:

  • This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran Saudi Arabia.
  • Hold a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Possess a minimum of 15 years of experience in the refinery and/or petrochemical industry with at least 7 years specializing in Fired Equipment.
  • Demonstrate a broad set of skills and knowledge covering various types of fired equipment including fired heaters flares incinerators boilers SCRs and related systems and auxiliaries within the Refining NGL and petrochemical industries.
  • Have indepth code knowledge of standards such as ASME Section VIII Divisions 1 & 2 ASME Section I API530 API535 API537 API560 API579 API936 NFPA standards and other relevant codes and standards applicable to fired equipment.
  • Possess significant experience in inspection and failure analysis of fired equipment.
  • Be knowledgeable about both basic and advanced NonDestructive Evaluation (NDE) techniques relevant to fired equipment.
  • Have a deep understanding of remaining life calculations for heater tubes.
  • Understanding of refractory design and repair is desirable.
