Job Summary

We are seeking a Stationary Equipment Engineer to join our Maintenance Support Shared Services Department (MSSSD). MSSSD is a multidisciplinary organization with interface to technical and in some cases business support requirements of Domestic Refining & NGL Fractionation Admin Area and This Company Affiliates. Its function caters mainly to the technical needs of Global Manufacturing operating facilities management and drive the performances of operating facilities in executing corporate programs and initiatives towards operational excellence and value creation. Your primary role will be to provide technical support to operating facilities projects technology deployment and talent development. This includes also conducting technical studies and assessments in stationary assets such as mechanical calculations for piping pressure vessel shell and tube heat exchangers air cooler fin fans branch reinforcement hydrotest pressure rating and/or derating fitness for service to evaluate flaws or damage pipe stress analysis flange calculations and perform nozzle calculations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field troubleshooting on a daily basis or as requested including participation in major T&Is (Turnarounds and Inspections) and emergency plant shutdowns.
  • Provide engineering support to repair hydrocarbon leaks and review and approve bolted clamp calculations and designs made by specialized leak sealing contractors before field installation.
  • Support maintenance support organizations and project executions by developing repair procedures or overseeing ongoing projects or repairs.
  • Perform piping mechanical calculations such as determining minimum wall thickness for internal and external pressure branch reinforcement calculations MAWP (Maximum Allowable Working Pressure) calculations following ASME B31.3 hydrotest pressure calculations and rating and/or derating of piping circuits per API 570.
  • Perform fitnessforservice evaluations using API 579 to assess flaws or damage and determine the suitability of a piece of pipe for continuous operation.
  • Conduct pipe stress analysis using software like Caesar II.
  • Perform flange calculations following ASME VIII Div 1 App 2 using PVElite.
  • Perform nozzle calculations using WRC107 and WRC297 modeling the analysis in Caesar II or PVElite.
  • Perform pressure vessel calculations including determining minimum wall thickness for internal and external pressure nozzle reinforcement calculations MAWP calculations stability and buckling calculations for vessels to be postweld heat treated (PWHT) and rating and/or derating of pressure vessels following API 510 NBIC23 ASME Code VIII Div 1 and/or Div 2 when applicable.
  • Perform shell and tube heat exchanger calculations following TEMA (Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association) standards including calculations for tube sheet minimum thickness minimum tube wall thickness and flowinduced vibration.
  • Perform air cooler calculations and assess mechanical design following API 661 including mechanical assessment and ligament efficiency calculations for tube sheet and plug sheet hole size enlargement as per ASME VII Div 1 App 13 using PVElite.
  • Perform calculations for fire heaters including determining minimum wall thickness (elastic and rupture creep) as per API 530 tube remaining life calculations and overall mechanical assessment of radiant/convection section tube supports. Also perform mechanical calculations for fire heater stacks (minimum wall thickness and vibration analysis).
  • Conduct mechanical calculations and technical assessments for various miscellaneous mechanical items such as hot taps expansion joints steam traps special valves strainers quill injector vortex shedding calculations.
  • Provide support to the Tank Farm area by performing calculations as per API 650 and reviewing procedures as per API 653 for storage tank repair and maintenance.

Requirements:

  • This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran Saudi Arabia.
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the Refinery NGLF (Natural Gas Liquids Fractionation) or Petrochemical industry with a specific focus on asset integrity of stationary equipment.
  • At least 5 years of field experience working on major plant turnarounds and field troubleshooting.
  • Thorough knowledge of best engineering practices.
  • Solid background in industry codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software.
