Highlights:

Position Title: GIS Data Administrator

Location: ARLINGTON TX 76005

Duration: 6 months

Work Schedule: 7:30 AM 4:30 PM

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Administer the enterprise GIS deployment which includes managing GIS software associated components and related data.
  • Also serve as the primary point of contact for the enterprise GIS infrastructure.
  • position requires at least three years of experience and a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a scientific or technical field.
  • Candidates with significant related experience and formal education in a nontechnical field might also be considered.
  • Install and/or maintain GIS software on servers including coordinating or performing updates and upgrades.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions licenses extensions addins and data storage.
  • Create and/or maintain web services apps and addins.
  • Manage user rights to enterprise server software and databases.
  • Understand authentication methods and utilize them per best practices.
  • Monitor and communicate GIS enterprise system performance.
  • Work closely with IT staff and software providers to ensure system performance continuously meets requirements.
  • Anticipate issues and devise action plans in coordination with stakeholders.
  • Review logs perform data queries recreate steps and interact with users and/or software support staff to troubleshoot and promptly resolve issues.
  • Document processes procedures instructions and techniques.
  • Ensure that security requirements are met

To be considered for this position you should have:

  • Broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field.
  • FLSA: Exempt
  • Certification if possible
  • Experience deploying and administering Esri Enterprise ArcGIS Server ArcSDE ArcGIS Online ArcGIS Pro and Portal
  • Experience administering an enterprise relational database management system
  • Experience with geospatial data including writing original queries of data in a geospatial environment for presentation reporting and analysis
  • Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS API for Java script
  • Able to analyze situations think critically and devise solutions
  • Able to exercise significant independent judgement and work with minimal supervision
  • Able to interact with both highly technical and nontechnical groups in all levels within an organization
  • Experience documenting procedures and writing instructions
  • Experience with live demonstrations and giving presentations using visualizations and other techniques to convey complex ideas or relationships
  • Able to understand challenging or abstract concepts
  • Able to conduct research and read technical documents and reports
  • Able to exhibit professionalism in all aspects of duties and committed to highquality output
  • Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelors degree.
  • Over three years up to and including five years.

Reading

  • Advanced Ability to read literature books reviews scientific or technical journals abstracts financial reports surveys legal descriptions engineering documents and/or legal documents.
  • Ordinarily such education is obtained at the college level or above. However it may be obtained from experience and selfstudy.

Math

  • Advanced Ability to apply fundamental concepts of theories work with advanced mathematical operations methods and functions of real and complex variables.
  • Ordinarily such education is obtained at the college level or above. However it may be obtained from experience and selfstudy.
Writing
  • Advanced Ability to write editorials journals speeches manuals or critiques. Ordinarily such education is obtained at the college level or above. However it may be obtained from experience and selfstudy.

Managerial

  • Receives General Direction: Work is nonstandardized and varied and requires the incumbent to produce expected results and meet deadlines by following general procedures.
  • The employee normally performs the job by following established operating procedures and/or policies.
  • There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties. Performance is reviewed upon completion for approval.

  • Does not have any budget responsibility
Organizational Control
  • Work may require the occasional direction of helpers assistants seasonal employees interns or temporary employees. This level also measures duties that require working with regular employees within the department or across department lines to complete specific projects.

  • Work requires analysis and judgment in accomplishing diversified duties. Requires the exercise of independent thinking within the limits of policies standards and precedents.
Interpersonal/ Human Relations Skills.
  • Work requires frequent and regular contact with others in a direct reporting relationship and may involve contact with others outside of the direct reporting relationship.
  • The purpose of the contact is to address specific issues and/or general policies. Contact may involve support of controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive issues.
  • Evaluates customer satisfaction develops cooperative associations and relationships and utilizes resources to continuously improve external customer relations and satisfaction.
  • Makes presentations and answers questions in regard to presentation materials and findings.
Technical Skills.
  • Work requires a comprehensive practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decisionmaking abilities appropriate to the work environment of the Agency.
  • Skill in solving problems; in testing installing and implementing geographic information system programs; and in troubleshooting system issues.
  • Knowledge of cartography and an ability to interpret orthophotographs and digital imagery.
  • The ability to gather assemble correlate and analyze data; to devise solutions to problems; to prepare reports; to communicate effectively; to manage projects; and to train lead assign and/or prioritize the work of others are essential for this position.
  • Consequences of work affect large groups as well as the customerbase at large.
