GIS Consultant

Role overview:

The GIS Consultant role is responsible for managing digital mapping data and performing analysis to answer geographical questions. The key focus for many GIS consultants is making maps for clients, deduced from analytical data

On a day to day, the role will be a specialist in mapping, modelling, and analysing location-based datasets in order to support the business and clients, helping to visualize data in a clear and concise manner.

Role and responsibilities:

• Provide GIS support to internal and external clients
• Assist across all geospatial aspects of large scale NSIP / EIA projects (including solar farms)
• Tasks will involve management, processing, analysis, and presentation of geospatial datasets.
• Responsible for the production of high-quality report figures and maps
• Assist the Principal GIS Consultant on a wide range of geospatial tasks including multi-criteria analyses, production of baseline LVA figures (including ZTVs) and constraints mapping Application support through the use of ESRI s ArcGIS online platform

Education and experience: (essential)

• A bachelors degree in a GIS related field or equivalent work experience
• 2 + years experience working with ESRI s ArcGIS suite of software, including ArcGIS pro.
• Experience of figure / map production and a good understanding of cartographic design techniques
• Ability to communicate and interpret with non-GIS specialist on their requirements
• Effective communication skills
• Good organizational skills and good attention to detail
• Self-reliant and proactive
• A team player

Education and experience: (desirable)

• A post graduate degree in a GIS related field
• Exposure and understanding of GIS open-source software, QGIS.
• Experience working with ArcGIS Online
• Experience with design / drawing software (AutoCAD/REVIT)
• Proficiency with automating processes through the use of ArcGIS model builder and/or python scripts
• Commercial awareness
• Experience working within a multi-disciplined consultancy environment.
