GAAP Financial Reporting Team Lead

We have partnered with a large Health Insurance company in the Newtown Square, PA area to provide them with a GAAP Financial Reporting Team Lead.

Responsibilities of the GAAP Financial Reporting Team Lead:

• Supervises the timeliness of the monthly financial reporting process pursuant to the financial reporting close calendar.
• Coordinates and reviews all financial reporting deliverables prior to presentation to management and external distribution.
• Supervises preparation of the audited annual financial statements and related disclosures (GAAP, OCBOA and Benefit Plans) Ensures timely preparation and compliance with applicable authoritative guidance.
• Supervises reporting and settlement of intercompany transactions.
• Supervises external customer billing process.
• Routinely monitors and reports on new issued and exposed FASB guidance.
• Maintains and tests changes to HFM/FDM business rules, mapping tables, and dimension library and performs other tasks related to Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) system.
• Coordinates with Financial Planning & Analysis team with respect to reporting of budget/forecast.
• Implementation of new controls (as needed) and oversight of existing controls over financial reporting functions.
• Monitors all existing financial reporting processes, identifies process inefficiencies, recommends efficient process alternatives, and facilitates implementation of such process improvements
• Staff training and development

Requirements of the GAAP Financial Reporting Team Lead:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Four or more years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years of experience at a public accounting firm.
• Solid understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the application thereof.
• Solid understanding of Statement of Statutory Accounting Principles and the application thereof preferred.
• Experienced in the preparation of annual audited financial statements and related disclosures.
• Experienced in the NAIC/SSAP research and preparation of accounting research memorandums preferred.
• Experience with PeopleSoft, Hyperion or similar ERP system preferred.
• Experience with eFreedom or similar Statutory Blank preparation system preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Licenses, Registrations or Certifications.
• CPA license preferred.
