The role

As a Fullstack Developer at Viaplay you will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of digital media develop the platform to meet the challenges of a continuously growing user base. You will work mainly in our backend services but also on our web and smart TVs to enable rapid improvements in our core solutions. Your engagement will shape the future of our service as you will be involved in defining the cutting edge for video on demand. We are now looking for a new team member to help us grow the platform enhance our user experience and create the next generation of streaming services.

We thrive in using cutting edge technology always keeping up to date and constantly challenging the status quo. We work with Node.js in a microservices architecture that runs in AWS. Also we build our whole product here inhouse.

The journey ahead

You will join a kickass and stability crossfunctional small but mighty squad team based in both Stockholm and Barcelona and deliver engineering solutions aligned with technical and product longterm visions. The team delivers on clear goals based on our customer journey and is focusing on the customer authentication journey but has other responsibilities within our core services.

Some of your daily challenges will include:

• Running and taking ownership of technical design complexity assessment development testing and deployment
• Collaboration with other teams in an exciting and agile development process
• Participating in weekly guild meetings with discussions around best practices maintenance and longterm vision
• Writing clean reusable legible code that is easy to test and easy to extend
• Investing in our personal skills and increasing our knowledge every day

What were looking for

We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and thats why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But in order to thrive in this role we are looking for a passionate developer with a genuine interest in software development and an ambition to constantly improve your skills. You have worked with a variety of tasks requiring complex problem solving using JavaScript. If you also have an interest in multiple programming languages you will fit right in! You will be part of a team that makes things happen in a brilliant manner.

• Solid work life experience developing web based services using Node.js
• Good understanding of REST API
• Understanding of test or behaviordriven development (TDD/BDD) including supporting frameworks
• Experience in developing services in the cloud preferably AWS
• An interest and motivation to work with modern frameworks
• Experience of working with some Frontend magic such as React.js

Its a bonus if you have:

• Experience working with a stateless and high transactional end user product
• Knowledge of the AWS environment and services (S3 SQS Lambda DynamoDB etc)
• Knowledge of RUST
• A cando attitude sense of humor and the ability to work humbly with others.
