We are globally the largest kids bike rental network and are changing the world of consumer finance by giving our community of members a strong alternative to purchasing bicycles for their little loved ones.

We are growing exponentially over the last few years with offices in London Berlin and Gibraltar and have raised c.50M in debt and equity from leading circular economy funds. We are now focusing on panEuropean growth having launched trading in Germany in 2022 Spain in 2023 and a few more in 2024.

Why buy a kids bike Children grow fast. Keeping up with their growth spurts can be costly and a hassle for parents. At Bike Club we provide families with a sustainable and affordable option for getting their children active and enjoying the outdoors. We offer kids bikes on a subscription service that can be exchanged as they grow.

About the Team

We are the tech team that drives everything online for the Bike Club. From ecommerce orders customers and marketing to interactive features such as bike finders social tools and many other yet unannounced projects.

We have a lot of exciting things in the pipeline that will involve building web apps mobile apps and developing other new ways of pushing the Bike Club technology forward creating a more streamlined and exciting experience for our customers.

We have a fun and inclusive work environment that currently meet inperson 1 day a week at our Borough or Beckton offices.

Together with the other FrontEnd Developers you will take responsibility for everything on the Bike Club website adding new features using React Shopify APIs. A major focus for the coming year will be adapting the site to cater for our international markets. You will also be involved in developing ideas for new functionality on the website as well as helping the UX Designer to carry out usability research and testing.

You will enjoy working with a vibrant group of techminded people contributing to ideas and enjoying experimenting with new tools and processes.

Tasks

  • Building new features for the Bike Club website using React Next.js.
  • Adapting the site to be multilingual and adapt features for countryspecific needs.
  • Using various APIs to integrate external data in and out of the site.
  • Helping to develop the fundamentals and standards for inhouse code.
  • Working closely with the UX Designer and BackEnd Developers.
  • Using Jira Notion and other Agilebased tools to stay organised with projects.
  • Estimating and prioritising features for our roadmap.
  • Mentoring and assisting other members of the team when they are blocked.
  • Providing insight and a sounding board to other senior members of team.
  • Reviewing pull requests from the team.

Requirements

Essential

  • 5 years experience working with HTML/CSS/JS
  • Used at least one frontend JS framework such as React Angular or Vue in a production environment
  • 5 years experience building web applications / software
  • Highly experienced with Typescript
  • Highly experienced in CSS
  • Experience with component libraries
  • Regular use of Git
  • Performance optimisation
  • Experience working with REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Solid knowledge of software development principles
  • Good understanding of accessibility / usability concerns
  • Experience with endtoend testing unit testing and automated testing
  • Experience of deployment workflow using Vercel/AWS or similar

Nicetohaves

  • A backend language such as node/python/php etc
  • Working with AWS/Vercel/Shopify/other servers and platforms
  • Working on ecommerce projects
  • Experience with (headless) CMSs
  • Experience building internationalised websites
