Job Summary

This advanced professional prepares strategic business unit budgets performs technical analysis and decision support. This professional will be expected to perform market and financial analysis designed to maximize resource utilization operational effectiveness of AHS and achieve strategic growth objectives. Under general direction the Sr. Financial Analyst completes strategic planning and business development projects of quantitative and qualitative nature researches analyzes prepares and presents written and verbal reports on internal environmental and strategic topics that are identified by senior management as determinants of organizational performance. Works collaboratively through physician leaders senior management and outside organizations to proactively identify communicate and assist in implementation of financial reporting analysis and planning initiatives. Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Additional professional or paraprofessional administrative services experience may be substituted for the education on a yearforyear basis at AHSs discretion. Education: Bachelors in finance accounting or related field. Masters degree in Business Administration
  • (MBA) highly preferred.
  • Minimum Experience: Four years of experience healthcare finance or related with Bachelors degree.
  • Minimum Experience: Two years of experience in healthcare finance or related with MBA.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality estimate and meet realistic timelines and react to changing priorities.
  • Act in an appropriate and professional manner as defined by the companys Standards of Behavior Policy and Procedures and Scope of Services.
  • Correct business English including spelling grammar and punctuation.
  • Current office administrative practices and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; ability to manage and discuss technical and data issues with client and internal resources.
  • Include specific financial software systems to run budgeting and DSS.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word Outlook Excel PowerPoint).
  • Role model AHS Standards of Behavior.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Use independent judgment and initiative within established policies and procedures.

  • Analyzes the contribution of existing service lines and programs; matches the format of the deliverable with the expectations of the requestor utilizes appropriate believable and credible assumptions confirms the accuracy of data used in the analysis incorporates feedback utilizes specific contract reimbursement information explains data irregularities.
  • Assists program development and implementation of strategic and business planning projects that involve various entities within the health system.
  • Develops and maintains the budget for assigned cost centers; develops top down budgets ensures accurate and current cost standards tests for the reasonableness of the flexible budget against cost standards assists in the forecast of units of service volumes forecasts gross revenue provides complete budget documentation assists in updating and maintaining the position control system.
  • Maintains cost accounting standards and links them to the service item master; understands HCPC codes costtocharge pricing methodologies revenue and ICD9 codes understands basic compliance issues and their effects on the service item master identifies and updates cost standards in a timely manner.
  • Obtains and reviews benchmark data analyzes variances to budget understands all terms and labels used on the reports knows the timing of each reports production audits the validity of these reports. Performs productivity studies and develops new labor standards; utilizes appropriate techniques to sample raw data tests cost standards against benchmarks understands the difference between fixed and variable labor costs engineers standards to achieve cost reductions.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis against multiple strategic scenarios.
  • Performs analyses reports and presentations on organizationwide strategy planning initiatives and issues that assist the organization in meeting its mission and goals as assigned by senior management.
  • Prioritization of programs based on evaluation and opportunity analysis.
  • Projects may include; environmental issues assessment business plans strategic plans implementation and communication plans for the system on key short and longterm goals and issues internal performance and market assessments benchmarking resource analyses. costbenefit analyses and costeffectiveness analyses.
  • Provide support for the business development functions of the organization through research analysis preparation of reports and the maintenance of data and information.
  • Provides routine and ad hoc reporting for all areas of the organization; distributes productivity and financial reports according to the financial reporting calendar
  • completes surveys and annual reports as requested researches and complies financial information from a variety of online and inhouse databases.
  • Utilizes spreadsheets and a variety of databases; prepares and delivers clean and understandable information using report writing software proficient in typing and keyboarding efficiently links spreadsheets and integrates graphics and text seamlessly in product deliverables.
  • Utilizes the financial and decision support reporting systems for analyzing and reporting departmental payor service line provider or contractor and organizational level profitability. Models the financial impact of changes to a bargaining unit MOU during contract negotiations.
