- Research current fashion trends, market preferences, and consumer behavior to inform design concepts and product development strategies.
- Develop original fashion designs for apparel, accessories, or footwear that reflect the brand's aesthetic and target market.
- Create sketches, illustrations, and technical drawings of design concepts using traditional hand-drawing techniques or computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Collaborate with the design team, including patternmakers, sample makers, and product developers, to bring design concepts to life.
- Select fabrics, trims, colors, and embellishments for each design. Source materials from suppliers and vendors that meet quality, cost, and sustainability criteria.
- Participate in fittings and garment construction to ensure the fit, drape, and overall quality of finished garments meet design specifications.
- Manage the design process from concept to final production, including creating design boards, mood boards, and technical specifications.
- Stay updated on emerging fashion trends, textile innovations, and industry developments. Attend fashion shows, trade fairs, and exhibitions to gain inspiration and insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including merchandising, marketing, and production, to coordinate product launches, promotional campaigns, and sales initiatives.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation in the fashion marketplace.
