Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Staff
Hour of Operation are: 8:00AM to 6:30PM Monday through Friday flexible
Location: Washington DC
Duration: Full Time/ Permanant/ PartTime approx. 24 Hours per week

The Facilities Maintenance Staff will work directly under the direction of the client Director performing the following duties: (Note: This position does not have supervisory/managerial responsibilities)

  • Inspect grounds classrooms and other assigned areas with daily safety checklist. Notify manager on duty of safety issues and concerns upon discovery mitigate safety risks to staff and children with no more than 1 exception.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness by completing daily weekly monthly cleaning checklists to ensure high touchpoints and deep cleaning is complete as directed with no more than two missed exceptions in an annual rating period.
  • Works with program operations team and client administrator to determine gaps in facility maintenance. Responds to requests for cleaning building toys/materials for direct care staff and deep cleaning requests from staff within two business days of request with no more than 2 instances of being late.
  • Oversee submission and document followup on work orders every 2 weeks with no more than 2 exceptions.
  • Complete and file cleaning checklists by 25th of the third month each quarter (December March June and September) with no more than 1 instance of being late.
  • Clean storage areas IAW guidance (i.e. sweeps wet mop disinfect/bleach and polish stainless steel) and secures room with no more than 2 exceptions.
  • Remove overflowing trash cans and empty contents in dumpster as necessary with no more than 2 exceptions.
  • Maintains clean surfaces to mitigate trip and falls hazards on playgrounds classrooms and patron walkways with no more than one exception in an annual rating period.
  • Stock and maintain adequate supplies in the bathroom classrooms and areas in the facility as assigned supporting administration staff with restocking needed materials weekly (i.e. soap toilet tissue hand towels etc.) with no more than 2 exceptions.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Requirements/Experience:

    The offerors response should identify how the candidate meets the below requirements.

  • Have and maintain CPR/AED Certification for Healthcare Providers (including Infant/Child/Adult)
  • Ability to successfully complete a physical exam and tuberculosis test (at the incumbents expense) prior to employment and annually thereafter (current documentation may not be older than 12 months).
  • Must be able to secure and maintain applicable security clearances.
  • Ability to meet minimum physical requirements: o lift (from floor) and carry up to fifty pounds.
    • carry Classroom GoBag and other emergency supplies.
    • utilize fine and medium hand manipulations.
    • assume postures in low level positions including but not limited to bending stooping squatting kneeling and sitting on the floor.
    • ability to move from a seated position to a standing position promptly to respond to emergency situations.
    • possess hearing and visual capabilities necessary to monitor the environment and childrens wellbeing.

  • Flexibility with scheduling and availability to work additional hours as needed.
  • Qualifications:

    • Experience and interest in working with in a facilities maintenance capacity interact and protect the safety and integrity of children staff and families.
    • 2 to 4 years experience in a facilities maintenance field.
    • Preferred experience in a childcare of education facility.
    • Knowledge of health and safety standards for centerbased childcare settings including:
      • Disaster planning resources and collaborations within childcare community.
      • Community health and mental health resources for child parent/guardian and staff health.
      • Importance of serving as a healthy role model for children and staff.
    • Ability to assess emergency situations and act accordingly.
    • Ability to work successfully independently and in teams.
    • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
    • Ability to analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions/changes.
    • Ability to organize and plan effectively. Detail oriented with the ability to work under stress manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
