Company Overview:

Pro Bono Network is a nonprofit agency in Oak Park Illinois which empowers volunteer attorneys to meet the unserved legal needs of lowincome persons. We work with legal aid agencies throughout Cook and DuPage counties structuring projects to match the needs of our volunteers. During the last 12 years PBN partnered with more than 20 community organizations and legal aid agencies. We recruited and supported more than 450 volunteer attorneys and 30 translators who have contributed 29000 volunteer hours— totaling over $7.25M in free legal services—to help 5000 clients. Position Overview:

Pro Bono Network (PBN) seeks a dynamic individual committed to social justice to lead our organization and execute our strategic plan. For more than 12 years PBN has successfully delivered legal aid to communities in need via volunteer attorneys. We are looking for a missiondriven Executive Director who can build on this history of success and propel our growth into the future.

As our Executive Director You Will:

Leadership

  • Serve as the primary public representative for the organization with our donors partner agencies the media and peer nonprofits.
  • Champion our mission highlight our successes communicate our needs and build equity in the Pro Bono Network brand.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the staff and the Board of Directors. You will be responsible for communicating updates on the mission and strategic plan to the Board and relaying the Board’s vision to the staff.
  • Collaborate closely with the Board to gain access to resources that meet the tactical and strategic goals of the organization.
  • Mentor guide and lead the existing staff and consultants. Utilize performancebased metrics to track the team’s performance against our mission strategic plan and annual budget.
  • Oversee human resources management including hiring performance assessment salary levels and work allocation. Work closely with the Board to gain access to appropriate resources to meet the tactical and strategic goals of the organization.
  • Evaluate staffing needs and ensure we have the personnel necessary to meet the organization’s mission and strategic plan.

Growth and Development

  • Assess the longterm growth and stability plan for the organization in collaboration with the Board.
  • Develop strategies for future growth including but not limited to expanding grants and institutional giving as well as a robust individual giving program.
  • Connect with current and prospective donors both individuals and grantmaking organizations to nurture and expand relationships
  • Partner with the development staff to create and implement short and longterm fundraising plans.

Financial Management

  • Manage profit and loss for the organization as overseen by the Board and supported by the Board’s Finance Committee.
  • Create annual budgets for the organization and work within these budgets.
  • Provide daytoday financial oversight for the organization.

Operations Management

  • Manage the organization's daily operations including oversight of vendors bookkeepers office space technology insurance and contracts.
  • Ensure that the organization complies with all laws and regulations that apply to nonprofit organizations.
  • Ensure that the organization and its staff adhere to the highest ethical standards.

What You Bring to the Position:

  • A bachelor's degree in human services business social services or equivalent degree is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of nonprofit management is required along with a proven ability to fundraise active community involvement and team management in the nonprofit industry.
  • Experience developing successful grant proposals and fundraising initiatives.
  • Excellent planning organizational and followup skills.
  • Experience managing staff working both remotely and in person.
  • Demonstrated professional interaction with staff volunteers sponsors donors and others to engage them toward achieving goals.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects with varying priorities.
  • Understanding of volunteer recruitment and management.
  • Ability to effectively speak and present to individuals including highnetworth donors and corporate executives as well as small medium and large groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Compensation Benefits and Job Structure:

Pro Bono Network offers a competitive compensation structure of $85000$95000 based on skills and experience and 3 weeks of PTO. The position will be fulltime hybrid with 12 days per week expected in our office in Oak Park IL. Pro Bono Network will consider candidates who prefer a flexible work schedule of less than 40 hours per week. The position also will require some travel to downtown Chicago and around Cook and DuPage counties.
