We are an industry leader in the Ohio Heavy/Highway industry. We serve eight major markets in two states. Vertical integration of complimentary material production and construction entities allows us to be competitive in an everexpanding market.
POSITION:
We are seeking an experienced heavy civil construction estimator based in our North Jackson Ohio office primarily serving the Youngstown Akron and Mansfield Ohio markets. Periodic compensated travel to our various Ohio offices would be required.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Organize and execute multiple time sensitive deadlines simultaneously.
- Assist in securing bid packages time sensitive bid delivery and other bidrelated tasks.
- Read understand and interpret owner specifications and drawings.
- Perform a prebid jobsite visit to determine site specific construction requirements.
- Solicit quotations from subcontractors and suppliers ensuring completeness & competitive pricing.
- Prepare a preliminary prebid project construction schedule
- Perform quantity takeoffs to determine required material labor equipment and trucking.
- Prepare a construction estimate to 95% complete prior to review.
- Present bid preparation to coworkers as part of a bid review process.
- Perform postbid analysis of competing bids.
- Visit construction sites to observe construction means and methods.
- Maintain uptodate skills for utilization of jobrelated software and technology.
- Prepare and participate in project handoff meetings with Operations coworkers.
- Execute additional assignments per supervisors direction.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree preferred in Construction Management or Civil Engineering High School Diploma and/or relevant experience will be considered.
- 5 years of experience (3 years minimum) in heavy/highway construction preferred.
- Have a working understanding of HeavyHighway construction means and methods crew (labor & equipment) requirements and production rates.
- Technology Experience Preferences:
- Proficient Experience in the following estimating tools:
- HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software
- Bluebeam
- Microsoft Office suite of programs
KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to manage assigned workload and work efficiently
- Good communication skills (verbal & written) are required.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Knowledge of ODOT Construction Bidding and Construction process preferred.
- Ability to estimate multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to manage nontraditional work hours when necessary
- Willing and able to travel to alternate office/project locations periodically
