Engineering Drafter

VCS is looking for Engineering Drafter for our client in Austin TX.

Earn Gift Cards up to $250 every Month.

Pay Rate: $20.87/hr $30.29/hr
Attendance/Performance Appreciation: Up to $250/Month as Gift Cards (NonTaxable)

Weekly : 40 Hours
Shift: 8:00 AM5:00 PM Monday to Friday

Contract: 2 Years with possible extension

Overview:
At an entry level performs drafting. This position develops competence by performing structured work assignments and receives instruction guidance and direction from team lead supervisor manager and/or more experienced colleagues. This position focuses on either drafting or engineering support duties. These duties are a combination of the following:
Performs field observations and gathers engineering information by traveling with a team to various locations (substations power plants water systems etc.) as necessary.
Prepares and updates asbuilt drawings based on field edits.
Reads and interprets engineering drawings construction drawings and other technical information.
Has experience manipulating point cloud data (LiDAR Terrestrial scans SUE scans etc.) to verify 2D and 3D design drawings.
Using computeraided design software and equipment prepares detailed engineering drawings maps and graphs from provided materials such as previous drawings layouts detailed sketches and standard references.
Clearly indicates revisions files drawings and drawing update documentation according to standard procedures.
Assists in drafting solicitation documents using established procedures formats and templates to support procurement and contract activities.
Assists with field and/or office research related to field measurements historical engineering drawings equipment databases microfilm inventory electronic document management system (EDMS) records and other technical records to design equipment and layouts as well as to produce equipment ratings and facility statistics. Field research may involve various physical activities.
Performs data entry in the departmental engineering database.
Operates equipment such as plotters printers copiers and scanners.

Minimum Qualifications:
One or more years of experience interpreting technical drawings/documents and performing technical analysis or drafting using computeraided design software.
A degree in computeraided design or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
Drivers license for traveling to various locations (substations power plants water systems etc.)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of computeraided drafting principles standards and techniques.
Knowledge of electronic document management systems (EDMS)
Knowledge of work management systems.
Basic skill in computeraided drafting.
Basic skill in reading and interpreting diagrams and prints.
Basic skill level in office productivity applications (such as email word processing spreadsheets etc.).
Skill in reading and interpreting technical information.
Skill in analyzing and solving problems.
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Skill in operating plotters printers copiers and scanners.
Ability to perform accurate data entry.
Ability to work in a team environment.

Work Environment:
Work hours are spent in an office industrial electrical substation and/or plant environment.
Work involves exposure to noise.
Work involves exposure to various and sometimes extreme weather conditions.

Physical Demands:
Work involves frequent finger/hand manipulation in using a keyboard and mouse.
Work involves climbing crawling crouching or other nonsitting positions in performing field duties less than 20% of the time.
Work involves standing and/or walking in performing field duties less than 30% of the time.
