Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Nature and ScopeThe Emergency Department Registered Nurse is a member of the Emergency Services team and works closely with the Emergency Department Physician to provide appropriate and timely treatment to all patients who present to this department for care. The ED RN has the ability to maintain order and flow during peak patient surges respond to multiple demands with integrity and persistence prioritize duties according to their critical nature and achieve desired outcomes for our patient population. The ED RN contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through participating in performance improvement techniques that provide positive outcomes. The ED RN will assist in other hospital nursing areas as low census permits.Responsibilities Appropriately and efficiently triages all patients seeking medical care from our Emergency Department for their injury or illness or concern. Assigns appropriate ESI (Emergency Severity Index) acuity level. Maintains knowledge of NorCal EMS Trauma Triage Criteria Follows policies and procedures related to EMTALA compliance for treating all patients Complies with EMTALA documentation and requirements for patient transfers Knowledge of EMResource (EMSystem) its purposes functions time requirements and regularly participates in updating at the beginning of each shift Shift InformationMostly Night Shift 3648 hours per week Compensation $109.00 / hourMinimum Qualifications: Required and/or PreferredEducation Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current California RN license required. Current CPR ACLS and PALS. Preferred: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and STABLE. Experience Minimum of one year ED or critical care nursing experience within the last five years preferred. Willing to train exceptional candidate.Knowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of ED nursing care including but not limited to administering treatments and medications interpreting diagnostic tests formulating a plan of care collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will be required to successfully complete competencies for this position. This includes but is not limited to FiveLevel Triage Acuity Scoring Conscious Sedation Malignant Hyperthermia EZIO placement Medication Administration and Restraints.
